Product Overview
Model: HIKCENTRAL-P-ACS-BASE
Who This Is For
For integrators and enterprise security managers who need to bring access control into a unified HikCentral Professional environment, the HikCentral Professional Access Control Base License Package is the mandatory starting point. This base license activates the access control module within an existing HikCentral Professional deployment, allowing door controllers, card readers, and access points to be managed, monitored, and reported on from within the same platform already handling video and other security functions. It suits multi-site commercial operations, corporate campuses, government facilities, and education environments where a single-pane-of-glass approach to security management reduces operator overhead and simplifies audit and compliance reporting. Without this base license in place, the access control features within HikCentral Professional cannot be activated, making it the essential first step before adding door or reader capacity licenses.
What This License Actually Does
Unlocks the Access Control Module
This base license is the prerequisite that enables the access control feature set within HikCentral Professional. Without it, access control management is unavailable regardless of connected hardware. It must be applied before any door or capacity add-on licenses can take effect.
Centralised Access Management
Once active, operators can configure access levels, cardholder credentials, and door schedules from within the HikCentral Professional interface. This removes the need to manage access hardware through separate, isolated software tools across different locations or device types.
Unified Platform Integration
Access events appear alongside video and alarm data in a single HikCentral Professional interface. Operators can correlate a door access event with associated camera footage without switching between applications, which is useful for incident investigation and audit trail requirements.
Scalable with Add-On Licenses
The base license is the foundation layer. As a site grows, additional door capacity or reader licenses can be added to expand the number of managed access points. This tiered structure means smaller deployments do not need to over-purchase at the outset.
Event-Based Alerting and Reporting
With the module active, HikCentral Professional can generate access event logs, trigger alerts on forced entry or door held open conditions, and produce reports against cardholder activity - supporting internal compliance processes and external audit requirements.
Who Buys This License
- Security Integrators: Installers deploying HikCentral Professional across commercial or government sites who need to activate access control as part of a broader converged security system.
- Corporate Facilities Managers: Operations teams managing multi-door or multi-site environments who want cardholder administration, access scheduling, and door event reporting consolidated into a single platform.
- Education and Campus Operators: Schools and universities running HikCentral Professional for video who need to add access control for restricted areas such as server rooms, labs, or staff-only zones without adding a separate access software package.
- Government and Compliance-Driven Sites: Facilities where an auditable, centralised record of door access events is a compliance requirement and where integration with existing Hikvision video infrastructure is already in place.
Honest Assessment
The HikCentral Professional Access Control Base License does exactly what a base license should do - it opens the module cleanly and gives a working foundation for centralised access management within an already-deployed HikCentral Professional system. The real strength is unification: access events, video, and alarms in one interface reduces operator switching costs and simplifies incident response. For sites already running HikCentral Professional for video, adding access control here costs significantly less in training and administration than introducing a second software platform. What this will not do is function as a standalone access control system - it requires an active HikCentral Professional server license. It also does not include any door or reader capacity by itself; additional capacity licenses are needed before hardware can be connected and managed. If your site requires a simple, standalone access controller without a broader VMS platform, a different product category would be more appropriate. The base license is available through Security Australia alongside compatible HikCentral capacity and add-on licenses.
Before You Buy
License Dependency Note: This base license requires an active HikCentral Professional server license on your system. It cannot operate independently. After applying the base license, you will need separate door capacity add-on licenses for each access point you intend to manage - the base license alone does not include any door slots. Confirm your total door count and existing HikCentral Professional server version before purchasing to ensure compatibility with your planned add-on licenses.
Activation Process: HikCentral Professional licenses are applied via the Hikvision license activation portal and then imported into your HikCentral Professional server. Ensure your server has internet access during activation or request an offline activation code if your deployment is air-gapped. Keep your license file and activation record in a secure location - these are required if you need to migrate or restore the server.
Quick Fit Check
- Good match if: You are running HikCentral Professional for video and want to bring access control into the same platform to manage cardholder credentials, door schedules, and access event logs without a separate software product.
- Good match if: You are an integrator quoting a multi-site enterprise deployment where unified security management across access and video is a client requirement and scalability through add-on licenses is part of the design.
- You may need a different product if: Your site does not already have a HikCentral Professional server license in place, or you need a self-contained standalone access control system that operates independently of a VMS platform - a dedicated access control server or panel-based solution would be more appropriate in that case.
Key Features & Technical Specifications
Real-World Scenarios
How It Compares
- Choose this if: You are already running HikCentral Professional and want to consolidate access control management into the same platform rather than operating a separate access control software product alongside your VMS.
- You may need a different product if: Your site does not have a HikCentral Professional deployment in place - a standalone access control management platform or a panel-based system without a VMS dependency would be a more practical fit for that scenario.
- Pairs well with: HikCentral Professional door capacity add-on licenses, HikCentral Professional server licenses, and compatible Hikvision access control hardware including door controllers and card readers.
Common Questions
-
Does this license include any door capacity, or do I need to buy additional licenses?
No. The HIKCENTRAL-P-ACS-BASE is a base/module activation license only and does not include any door slots. Once this license is applied to your HikCentral Professional server, the access control module becomes active but you will need separate HikCentral Professional ACS capacity or door add-on licenses before you can connect and manage physical access control hardware. -
Will this work without an existing HikCentral Professional server license?
No. This is a module add-on license that extends an existing HikCentral Professional deployment - it cannot operate independently. A valid HikCentral Professional base server license must already be installed and active on your system before the ACS base license can be applied. -
How is this license activated?
Activation is handled through the Hikvision online license activation portal using the activation code provided at purchase. Once activated online, a license file is generated and imported into your HikCentral Professional server through the platform's license management interface. Offline activation is available for air-gapped deployments - contact Hikvision or your supplier for the offline activation process. -
Can I manage access control for multiple sites with this license?
Yes, provided your HikCentral Professional server is licensed to manage multiple sites and your total door count is covered by the capacity add-on licenses you purchase. The ACS module itself supports the multi-site architecture of HikCentral Professional, allowing centralised administration of cardholder credentials and access levels across locations from a single server instance. -
Does this license allow access events to be linked to camera footage in HikCentral?
Yes. One of the core benefits of managing access control within HikCentral Professional is that door access events can be correlated with video footage from associated cameras. Operators can view a door event log entry and call up the relevant camera footage from the same interface, which is useful for incident investigation without switching between separate systems. -
Is this license transferable if I migrate my HikCentral Professional server to new hardware?
License transfer is subject to Hikvision's licensing policy and typically requires a deactivation of the existing license before reactivation on the new server. The process is handled through the Hikvision license portal. Retain your original activation code and license file records to support any future migration. The HIKCENTRAL-P-ACS-BASE is stocked by Security Australia, and your supplier can assist with clarifying the transfer process if required. -
Does the ACS module support door-held-open and forced-entry alerts?
Yes. With the access control module active in HikCentral Professional, the platform can receive and display alarm events from connected door controllers including door held open and forced entry conditions. These events can be configured to trigger operator alerts within the HikCentral Professional interface, supporting active monitoring of access points rather than only after-the-fact log review.
