Product Overview
Model: HIKCENTRAL-P-MS-10UNIT-BASE-PR
Who This Is For
When centralised management across multiple sites or device types is the priority, the HikCentral Professional 10 Unit Base Promo licence gives installers and system integrators a scalable starting point without committing to a large upfront channel count. This base licence covers 10 connected units - cameras, encoders, NVRs, or access control devices - under Hikvision's enterprise-grade VMS platform. It suits small-to-medium deployments where a professional management layer is needed but the project does not yet justify a high-channel purchase. IT managers rolling out a staged security upgrade, or integrators handling multi-tenancy environments, will find this a practical entry point. Additional unit licences can be added as the project grows, meaning the initial spend stays proportionate to the current scope.
What This Software Actually Does
10 Unit Device Management
The base licence supports up to 10 connected units across cameras, NVRs, encoders, and access control devices. Each unit represents one managed endpoint, giving smaller deployments a professional management layer without paying for capacity they do not need on day one.
Centralised Video Management
HikCentral Professional consolidates live view, playback, event management, and device health monitoring into a single interface. Operators manage all connected devices from one dashboard rather than logging into individual NVRs or camera web portals separately.
Scalable Licence Architecture
Starting with 10 units means installers can propose a cost-appropriate solution today and add unit licences as the client's camera count grows. The HikCentral platform supports incremental expansion without requiring a platform migration or reinstallation.
Multi-Site Access
HikCentral Professional supports multi-site topologies, meaning the 10 managed units do not need to be on the same physical network. Integrators handling clients with separate premises can connect and monitor all locations through a single software instance.
Role-Based User Management
Administrators can assign different access levels to operators, security personnel, and management staff. Each user sees only the cameras and functions relevant to their role, which is practical for environments where privacy zones or restricted areas apply.
Who Buys This Model
- Security Integrators: Proposing a professional VMS platform for small commercial clients who want centralised management without the cost of a full enterprise channel count from day one.
- IT Managers: Overseeing staged security rollouts across one or more sites, where a scalable licence model lets them match software cost to the current number of active cameras.
- Multi-Tenancy Property Operators: Managing mixed-use buildings or small business parks where several NVRs or camera groups need to be monitored from a single management console.
- Hikvision-Standardised Installers: Working within an all-Hikvision ecosystem who need a named, licenced VMS layer for clients requiring audit trails, user access logs, or compliance documentation.
Honest Assessment
HikCentral Professional handles centralised management, multi-site visibility, and role-based access well within the Hikvision ecosystem. The 10 unit base entry point makes the licence accessible for smaller projects, and the ability to add units over time means the platform does not become a liability as deployments grow. The promo pricing makes this a practical first step for integrators onboarding clients to a professional VMS layer. Where this licence will not serve: third-party camera brands outside Hikvision's supported device list are unlikely to integrate fully, and very large deployments requiring hundreds of channels from day one would be better served by a higher unit count licence purchased upfront. This software licence is available through Security Australia and is a software-only product - server hardware, operating system, and network infrastructure are the installer's responsibility to specify separately.
Before You Buy
Installer Note: HikCentral Professional runs on a Windows server environment - confirm your client's server meets Hikvision's minimum hardware requirements (CPU, RAM, and storage) before activating the licence. The 10 unit count applies to managed endpoints, not camera channels on a single NVR, so plan your unit allocation carefully if the deployment mixes NVRs, standalone cameras, and access control panels.
Licence Activation: This is a software licence product delivered as an activation code. Ensure you have a Hikvision partner account or the appropriate activation portal access before purchase. Licence transfers between servers may require contacting Hikvision support directly - plan for this if the client's server infrastructure is subject to future changes.
Quick Fit Check
- Good match if: You are deploying up to 10 Hikvision cameras, NVRs, or access control devices and need a professional VMS platform with centralised management, user access controls, and multi-site visibility from day one.
- Good match if: You are an integrator proposing a staged rollout where the client will add cameras over time - the scalable licence architecture means you can add unit licences without replacing the platform.
- You may need a different model if: Your deployment starts at 20 or more managed units - a higher unit count base licence will reduce per-unit cost and avoid the need to purchase multiple add-on packs immediately.
Key Features & Technical Specifications
Real-World Scenarios
How It Compares
- Choose this if: Your deployment is 10 units or fewer and you need a professional, scalable VMS with multi-site support, role-based access, and a clear upgrade path as the system grows.
- You may need a different model if: Your project starts with 20 or more managed units from day one - a higher base unit count licence will be more cost-effective than combining a 10 unit base with multiple add-on packs immediately.
- Pairs well with: Hikvision PoE NVRs, Hikvision IP cameras, and Hikvision access control panels running as managed endpoints within the same deployment.
Common Questions
-
Does this licence cover 10 camera channels or 10 devices?
It covers 10 managed units, where each unit is one managed endpoint - a camera, NVR, encoder, or access control panel. An NVR with 16 cameras connected to it counts as 1 unit in HikCentral, not 16. Planning your unit allocation correctly before purchase is important, particularly in mixed-device deployments. -
Will this work with non-Hikvision cameras?
Partially, in some cases. HikCentral Professional primarily supports Hikvision devices and ONVIF-compatible third-party cameras, but full feature access - including AI event management and device health monitoring - is only guaranteed with Hikvision hardware. Third-party device compatibility varies by model and is not universally assured. -
Can I add more units to this licence later?
Yes. The HikCentral Professional platform is designed for incremental expansion. Additional unit licences can be purchased and applied to the same installation without requiring a platform reinstallation or a new base licence. This makes the 10 unit base a practical starting point for projects expected to grow over time. -
What server hardware does HikCentral Professional require?
The software runs on a Windows server environment. Hikvision specifies minimum requirements for CPU, RAM, and storage based on the number of managed units and camera resolution in the deployment. The licence itself does not include server hardware - you need to provision and spec the server separately before activating the software. -
Does this licence include ongoing software updates?
HikCentral Professional base licences generally include access to software updates, but the terms of ongoing update entitlement for promotional SKUs should be confirmed with Security Australia at the time of purchase, as promotional pricing can carry specific conditions. -
Will this work for a multi-site deployment across two locations?
Yes. HikCentral Professional supports multi-site topologies, so the 10 managed units can be distributed across more than one physical location. Operators can view and manage cameras from different sites within the same interface, with user permissions configurable per site if required. -
Is this a perpetual licence or a subscription?
This is a perpetual base licence, meaning it does not expire after a set term. The software activation covers the 10 unit management entitlement on an ongoing basis. Some advanced HikCentral Professional features may require separate add-on licences, but the core VMS management functionality tied to this base licence is perpetual.
