Product Overview

Model: DS-2CD2T67G3-LIS2UY/SL

Who This Is For

For security integrators and property managers who need active deterrence at long approaches - not just recording, but intervention before an incident escalates. The Hikvision DS-2CD2T67G3-LIS2UY/SL is a 6MP ColorVu 3.0 bullet camera that combines full-colour night vision with built-in strobe light and two-way audio warnings. It is designed for outdoor perimeter lines where a visible reaction to a detected person or vehicle matters as much as the footage itself. Typical installs include warehouse fence lines, car yards, construction site gates, rural property driveways, and commercial loading areas where staff are not always present to respond. AcuSense AI classification filters out animals and environmental movement, meaning the strobe and audio alarm trigger on humans and vehicles - not every moth that crosses the lens at 2am.

What This Camera Actually Does

ColorVu 3.0 Full-Colour Night Vision

The camera produces colour footage in near-total darkness using a large-aperture lens and supplemental white light. Clothing colour, vehicle colour, and skin tone are all visible at night - information that greyscale IR footage simply cannot provide for post-incident review or real-time response.

AcuSense Human and Vehicle Classification

Deep learning on the camera itself distinguishes humans and vehicles from background movement - birds, animals, blowing foliage, changing shadows. This classification is what triggers the active deterrence response, keeping false alarms low enough that monitoring staff actually respond when they fire.

Strobe Light and Audio Deterrence

On detection of a classified human or vehicle, the camera can trigger its built-in strobe and broadcast a pre-set or custom audio warning. This functions as a first response at unmanned sites - alerting an intruder they have been detected before any operator even reviews the feed.

Two-Way Audio

With a built-in microphone and speaker, a monitoring operator can speak directly through the camera to anyone on site - remote guarding applications, after-hours challenges, or managing contractor access. Audio is recorded alongside video for evidential completeness.

6MP Resolution Over Long Approaches

At 6 megapixels, this camera delivers usable detail at distances suited to driveways, open yards, and fence lines. Facial features and vehicle plates are identifiable further back than a 4MP or 2MP equivalent, which matters on sites where cameras must cover 20-40 metres of open ground.

Smart Hybrid Light

The camera combines IR and white light illumination, allowing the installer or operator to configure which mode is active - white light for colour capture, IR for covert monitoring, or automatic switching based on detection. This gives flexibility for sites with varying operational requirements across shifts.

Who Buys This Model

  • Remote monitoring companies: Deploying AcuSense-triggered audio challenges at unmanned commercial sites, where reduced false alarms make remote guarding response operationally viable.
  • Warehouse and logistics managers: Covering loading dock approaches and yard perimeters where after-hours vehicle and pedestrian movement needs both recording and active deterrence.
  • Car yard and equipment hire operators: High-value outdoor asset storage where colour imagery at night is needed for accurate theft investigation and visible deterrence discourages repeat targeting.
  • Rural and semi-rural property owners: Long driveway and gate approaches where the nearest response is minutes away, making an on-camera strobe and voice warning the most immediate available deterrent.
  • Construction site security coordinators: Perimeter lines and plant storage areas that require active deterrence during hours when no security personnel are physically present on site.

Honest Assessment

The DS-2CD2T67G3-LIS2UY/SL does the active deterrence job well when the installation suits it. The combination of AcuSense classification and strobe-plus-audio response is genuinely more useful than passive recording alone at unmanned sites - the false alarm rate is low enough to keep automated responses from becoming background noise that staff ignore. Full-colour night vision means footage captured during an incident is actually useful for identification, not just confirmation that something moved. Two-way audio adds remote intervention capability that most standard bullet cameras do not have. What it will not do is provide wide-area situational awareness across a large open space - it covers a defined corridor or approach, not a broad field of view. Sites needing 180-degree or full yard coverage should look at panoramic or multi-sensor options available through Security Australia. It is also a visible, prominent camera - it is not designed for covert or discreet mounting.

Before You Buy

Installer Note: The strobe and audio deterrence functions require configuration on the connected NVR or through the camera's web interface - they do not operate out of the box on motion alone. Confirm your NVR supports AcuSense event handling to allow human/vehicle classification to trigger the deterrence output correctly. If using the camera with a third-party VMS, verify AcuSense alarm event compatibility before installation to avoid the deterrence features being inactive in the field.

Lens Selection Note: This model is available in different fixed lens variants. Confirm your required lens focal length before ordering - the field of view and effective identification distance change significantly between a 2.8mm and a 4mm option. For approaches longer than 25 metres where face or plate detail is the priority, the narrower field of view of a longer focal length typically performs better.

Quick Fit Check

  • Good match if: You are covering a defined outdoor approach - driveway, gate, loading dock entry - where you need both colour identification footage at night and an automated deterrence response to AcuSense-classified human or vehicle detection.
  • Good match if: The site uses remote monitoring and the operator needs two-way audio capability to challenge intruders through the camera rather than relying solely on a recorded alarm.
  • You may need a different model if: The priority is covering a wide open area rather than a focused corridor - a panoramic or multi-sensor camera will deliver broader situational awareness from a single mounting point at lower total cost.

Real-World Scenarios

Car Yard After Hours

Mounted on a bracket covering the yard entry, the camera detects a person approaching the fence line at 11pm. AcuSense classifies the target as human, triggering the strobe and an automated audio warning before any contact with the fence occurs. Colour footage records clothing details throughout.

Remote Monitoring Centre Challenge

An operator reviewing an AcuSense alarm uses two-way audio to broadcast a live verbal challenge through the camera speaker directly to a person on site. The interaction is recorded with the video. No physical guard is needed for a first-response challenge at this unmanned warehouse.

Construction Site Plant Storage

Installed on a temporary fencing bracket at a secure plant compound, the camera uses IR mode during overnight hours for covert monitoring, then switches to white light when a person is classified - producing colour footage of anyone interacting with equipment at 3am.

Rural Property Driveway

Covering a 30-metre driveway approach to a rural homestead, the 6MP resolution captures usable vehicle and occupant detail at distance. The strobe triggers on vehicle detection late at night, alerting the homeowner and acting as a visible deterrent when the nearest police response is 20 minutes away.

Loading Dock Entry Control

Mounted at the entrance to a controlled loading area, the camera records all vehicle and pedestrian movements in colour regardless of time of day. AcuSense filtering means the monitoring system only generates alarms for actual human or vehicle events - not every truck headlight sweep across the sensor.

How It Compares

  • Choose this if: You need active deterrence - strobe and audio - triggered by AcuSense human or vehicle classification, combined with full-colour night footage and two-way audio in a single outdoor bullet unit.
  • You may need a different model if: The site requires wide-area coverage from a single camera position - a panoramic or multi-sensor camera will cover more angular ground without multiple mounting points.
  • Pairs well with: An AcuSense-compatible PoE NVR that supports human and vehicle classification alarm events, allowing the deterrence outputs to be mapped and managed centrally across multiple camera positions.

Common Questions

  1. Does the strobe light trigger on every motion event, including animals and wind?

No. The strobe and audio alarm are tied to AcuSense classification, which distinguishes humans and vehicles from other movement sources. Animals, insects, and environmental movement such as blowing foliage do not classify as human or vehicle targets, so they do not trigger the deterrence outputs. This is the fundamental operational difference between this camera and a standard motion-triggered deterrence unit.
  2. Will this camera work with a non-Hikvision NVR?

Partially. The camera streams standard RTSP video and will record on most ONVIF-compatible NVRs. However, AcuSense alarm events - including the human and vehicle classification that drives the strobe and audio deterrence - typically require a Hikvision NVR or a VMS with confirmed AcuSense integration. On a third-party recorder, you may get video but lose the AI-driven deterrence functionality entirely. Confirm NVR compatibility before specifying.
  3. Is the colour night vision actually usable, or is it washed out by the white light?

Yes, it is usable. ColorVu 3.0 uses a large-aperture lens alongside the white light to produce balanced colour footage rather than the overexposed wash common on lower-quality colour-at-night cameras. The Smart Hybrid Light system also allows the installer to configure white light intensity or switch the camera to IR-only mode when active illumination is not wanted - for example, during the first part of the night when the site is occupied.
  4. Does this camera support PoE, and what standard does it require?

Yes. The DS-2CD2T67G3-LIS2UY/SL supports IEEE 802.3af standard PoE, meaning a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable from a standard PoE switch or PoE NVR carries both data and power. No separate power cabling is required. Standard 802.3af (15.4W) is sufficient - you do not need PoE+ for this model.
  5. Can I set a custom audio message, or is the deterrence sound fixed?

Both options are available. The camera supports pre-set built-in audio warnings and also allows custom audio files to be uploaded - so an operator can configure a site-specific message relevant to the property. Custom audio management is handled through the camera's web interface or a connected Hikvision NVR.
  6. Is this camera suitable for an exposed outdoor install in harsh Australian conditions?

Yes. The IP67 rating means the housing is fully protected against dust ingress and water immersion, covering exposed eave, pole, and bracket mounts in rain-exposed locations. The IK10 impact rating confirms the housing resists deliberate impact - relevant at sites where tampering is a concern. The operating temperature range of -30°C to 60°C covers Australian summer conditions that cause failures in cameras with narrower thermal tolerance. Security Australia stocks this model for exactly these kinds of demanding outdoor applications.
  7. Will this camera do the detection and deterrence locally without cloud connectivity?

Yes. AcuSense processing runs on the camera's own chipset - it does not send footage to a cloud server for analysis. Detection, classification, and deterrence triggering all happen locally. Cloud connectivity via Hik-Connect is available for remote viewing but is not required for the active deterrence functions to operate.
