Product Overview

Model: C1410

Who This Is For

For security integrators and facilities managers who need a compact, network-connected audio deterrent that responds automatically when someone enters a monitored zone - the AXIS C1410 Mk II Network Mini Speaker delivers triggered announcements without requiring a separate PIR detector, additional wiring, or a dedicated amplifier. A single Cat5e or Cat6 cable carries both power and data via PoE, making it practical for retrofits and new installs alike. It suits car parks, warehouse entries, retail stockrooms, loading docks, and any space where an audible response to motion adds a layer of active deterrence. Security teams managing multiple sites remotely can push live or pre-recorded messages across the network, making this unit a strong fit for centralised audio management deployments where speed of response matters.

What This Device Actually Does

Built-In PIR Triggering

The integrated PIR sensor detects motion and can trigger a pre-recorded audio message automatically, removing the need for an external detector or a separate rule engine. The speaker reacts on its own as soon as someone enters the detection zone.

Single-Cable PoE Installation

Powered via IEEE 802.3af PoE, the C1410 Mk II needs only a single network cable for both power and data. There is no need for a local power outlet, which simplifies placement in ceilings, soffits, or high-wall positions far from power points.

Network Audio & Live Talk-Down

SIP support enables operators to push live voice announcements directly to the speaker from a control room or softphone. Pre-recorded clips can also be scheduled or triggered by external systems, giving security teams flexible response options without physical presence on site.

Wide-Area Audio Projection

Designed for wide-area coverage, the speaker projects audio clearly across open spaces such as car parks, warehouses, and outdoor courtyards. The compact enclosure belies the output level, making it suitable for environments where voice intelligibility over distance is a requirement.

AXIS Audio Manager Integration

The C1410 Mk II works natively with AXIS Audio Manager Edge and AXIS Audio Manager Pro, enabling centralised scheduling, clip management, and zone control across multiple speakers. Multi-site operators can manage audio content from a single interface without visiting each location.

Who Buys This Model

  • Security Integrators: Specifying active deterrence layers into CCTV systems where PIR-triggered audio warnings are needed at entry points, with PoE simplifying cable runs into existing switch infrastructure.
  • Warehouse and Logistics Operators: Deploying automated audio alerts in loading dock and restricted-access zones to notify unauthorised personnel before escalation is required.
  • Retail Loss Prevention Teams: Mounting units in stockrooms and back-of-house corridors where motion-triggered announcements deter opportunistic theft without staffing requirements.
  • Multi-Site Facilities Managers: Using AXIS Audio Manager to schedule and push announcements across car parks, building entries, or outdoor areas from a centralised management platform.
  • School and Institutional Security Teams: Installing compact PoE speakers at monitored perimeter points where a verbal warning system supports existing camera and access control infrastructure.

Honest Assessment

The AXIS C1410 Mk II does two things particularly well: it removes the need for a separate PIR detector by integrating one directly into the speaker body, and it delivers PoE-only installation in a compact enclosure that fits cleanly into ceiling and wall positions without a visible power supply. SIP compatibility gives operators genuine live talk-down capability, not just pre-recorded clip playback. For straightforward network audio deterrence tied to motion, this unit is a practical and well-integrated choice available through Security Australia. It will not function as a standalone siren or strobe - if the installation requires high-intensity visual deterrence alongside audio, a combined strobe-speaker unit or separate visual alarm device will serve better. It is also not a replacement for a full PA or evacuation system; for large venues requiring compliant emergency audio, a dedicated IP PA solution with zone failover is the appropriate product type.

Before You Buy

Installer Note: The C1410 Mk II draws power via IEEE 802.3af PoE - confirm your switch or injector supports 802.3af before ordering. If you are integrating PIR-triggered audio with an existing AXIS Camera Station or third-party VMS, verify VAPIX event rule compatibility in your VMS version first, as audio trigger configuration through ACAP or event rules varies between platforms.

Quick Fit Check

  • Good match if: You need motion-triggered audio deterrence at a single zone and want to avoid running a separate PIR detector - the built-in PIR handles detection and audio response from one device on one cable.
  • Good match if: You are managing audio across multiple locations from a central platform, as the C1410 Mk II integrates natively with AXIS Audio Manager for multi-site scheduling and clip management.
  • You may need a different model if: Your application requires high-SPL coverage of a large outdoor area or a compliant emergency evacuation audio system - a rack-mount IP PA solution or dedicated high-power IP speaker array would be more appropriate.

Real-World Scenarios

Loading Dock After-Hours

A logistics facility mounts the C1410 Mk II above a loading dock roller door. The built-in PIR detects any after-hours entry and immediately triggers a pre-recorded warning message, alerting the intruder that the area is monitored before any staff response is needed.

Retail Stockroom Deterrence

A retail chain installs a unit in each store's back-of-house corridor. When staff-only access is breached during trade hours, the speaker plays an automated message directing the person back to the shop floor, reducing shrinkage without requiring a loss prevention officer on site.

Remote Site Talk-Down

A monitoring centre operator receives a camera alert at an unmanned substation. Using SIP, they connect directly to the C1410 Mk II and deliver a live verbal challenge to the person on site, confirming the situation before dispatching a response - all without leaving the control room.

Multi-Site Scheduled Announcements

A facilities manager uses AXIS Audio Manager to schedule opening and closing time announcements across 8 car parks from a single dashboard. Content updates are pushed network-wide in minutes, replacing the need for site visits to update each unit individually.

School Perimeter Monitoring

A school installs C1410 Mk II units at after-hours entry points alongside existing CCTV cameras. PIR-triggered audio messages deter trespassers from proceeding further into the grounds while generating a simultaneous alert for the security monitoring contractor.

How It Compares

  • Choose this if: You need a compact, single-cable network speaker with an integrated PIR sensor for motion-triggered audio deterrence - the C1410 Mk II delivers all three in one PoE device without additional detectors or amplifiers.
  • You may need a different model if: Your project requires high-SPL outdoor public address coverage across a large open area or a life-safety compliant emergency announcement system - a dedicated IP PA speaker array or network horn speaker designed for those applications will be more appropriate.
  • Pairs well with: PoE-managed network switches, IP cameras with VAPIX event output for cross-device triggering, and AXIS Camera Station for unified video and audio event management.

Common Questions

  1. Does the built-in PIR trigger audio automatically without any VMS or external controller?

Yes. The integrated PIR sensor can trigger pre-loaded audio clips directly on the device without requiring an external VMS or controller. You configure the event rule in the device's onboard interface, upload your audio clip, and the speaker responds to motion independently. A VMS or AXIS Audio Manager is useful for multi-site management but is not required for basic PIR-triggered playback.
  2. Will this speaker work with a standard 802.3af PoE switch I already have installed?

Yes. The C1410 Mk II is powered by IEEE 802.3af PoE, which is the standard class supported by most managed and unmanaged PoE switches. No PoE+ (802.3at) or high-power switch is required, which means it integrates cleanly into existing network switch infrastructure without hardware upgrades in most installations.
  3. Can an operator speak live to someone on site through this speaker?

Yes. The C1410 Mk II supports SIP, which allows an operator to connect from a softphone, IP desk phone, or monitoring platform and deliver a live verbal message directly through the speaker. This is useful for monitoring centres that want to challenge a person on site before dispatching a response without the cost of a physical guard response.
  4. Does the C1410 Mk II integrate with AXIS Camera Station or third-party VMS platforms?

It integrates with AXIS Camera Station via VAPIX event rules, allowing camera-triggered audio responses such as playing a warning when a camera's analytics detects a person. Integration depth with third-party VMS platforms varies - VAPIX compatibility should be confirmed with your VMS vendor before specifying the unit in a mixed-platform deployment. Security Australia can assist with pre-sale compatibility queries.
  5. How is audio content managed across multiple C1410 Mk II units on different sites?

AXIS Audio Manager Edge handles on-device scheduling and clip management for smaller deployments, while AXIS Audio Manager Pro provides centralised control across multiple sites and zones from a single dashboard. Content updates, schedules, and zone assignments can be pushed remotely, removing the need for on-site visits to update individual units when announcement content changes.
  6. Is this suitable for outdoor installation in Australian conditions?

Check the confirmed IP rating for the specific enclosure before specifying it in an exposed outdoor position. The unit is a compact mini speaker designed primarily for semi-sheltered or indoor positions such as soffits, eaves, and internal wall mounts. For fully exposed outdoor environments subject to direct weather, confirm the ingress protection rating against your site conditions before ordering.
