Product Overview

Model: AXIS C1310-E Mk II

Who This Is For

Property managers specifying networked audio for outdoor areas - car parks, loading docks, building perimeters, or open recreational spaces - will find the AXIS C1310-E Mk II a practical fit. It is a PoE-powered outdoor horn speaker designed to deliver clear, wide-dispersion announcements and alerts over IP networks without requiring a separate audio amplifier or dedicated power run. The Mk II version adds a built-in microphone, enabling ambient monitoring and two-way communication from a single ceiling or wall-mounted unit. Integrators working within AXIS ecosystems will recognise its compatibility with AXIS Audio Manager Edge, making it straightforward to include in multi-zone audio deployments or as a voice-down station paired with an existing AXIS camera network. It suits schools, warehouses, transport hubs, and any outdoor site where PoE infrastructure is already in place and centrally managed audio is the goal.

What This Device Actually Does

PoE-Powered Network Audio

A single Cat5e or Cat6 cable carries both power and audio data to the C1310-E Mk II via IEEE 802.3af PoE. No separate power supply or audio cabling run is required, keeping installation clean and cable counts low across outdoor deployments.

Wide-Dispersion Horn Design

The horn format projects sound across wide outdoor areas - car parks, yards, and open perimeters - where point-source speakers would require multiple units. One speaker covers significantly more distance than a comparable indoor box speaker at similar output levels.

Built-In Microphone for Two-Way Audio

The Mk II includes a built-in microphone, enabling ambient audio monitoring and two-way communication. Security operators can speak down to an outdoor zone and listen back without a separate intercom device, useful for vehicle challenge points or unmanned entry areas.

IP66 Weatherproof Rating

Rated IP66, the enclosure is fully protected against dust ingress and powerful water jets. It is built for permanent outdoor mounting in Australian conditions - exposed eaves, covered docks, or open poles - without requiring additional weatherproofing enclosures.

AXIS Audio Manager Edge Integration

Native compatibility with AXIS Audio Manager Edge allows the C1310-E Mk II to slot into multi-zone audio systems managed centrally via a web interface. Scheduled announcements, live broadcasts, and zone-based control are handled without third-party audio middleware.

SIP Support for VoIP Integration

SIP protocol support allows the speaker to integrate with existing VoIP phone systems or SIP-based intercoms. A security control room or reception desk can initiate a live broadcast or two-way call to the outdoor zone directly from a standard SIP client.

Who Buys This Model

  • Security Integrators: Adding voice-down capability to existing AXIS camera deployments without installing a separate intercom system - the built-in microphone and SIP support cover the two-way requirement from one device.
  • Warehouse and Logistics Operators: Covering loading docks and yard areas with audible announcements triggered by access control events or operator broadcast, using the PoE infrastructure already supporting their camera network.
  • Schools and Campuses: Deploying outdoor PA zones across grounds, ovals, or covered walkways where scheduled bell tones, emergency announcements, and zone-based audio need central management via AXIS Audio Manager Edge.
  • Transport and Parking Operators: Mounting at entry stations or ticketing points where a driver challenge intercom and general area announcements are needed from a single weatherproof device on an existing PoE switch port.

Honest Assessment

The C1310-E Mk II does a specific job well: delivering managed network audio to outdoor zones from a single PoE cable with no external amplifier. The IP66 rating holds up in genuine outdoor conditions, the AXIS Audio Manager Edge integration is straightforward for integrators already in the AXIS ecosystem, and the built-in microphone makes two-way communication viable without additional hardware. SIP support extends its usefulness into sites that already run a VoIP infrastructure. Where it is not the right fit: it is a horn speaker, so the dispersion pattern and audio character prioritise projection over fidelity - it is not suited to background music applications or indoor environments where even sound coverage matters. If the requirement is for a video intercom with a screen, or for a high-fidelity indoor PA column, a different product category serves better. The C1310-E Mk II is available through Security Australia as part of the AXIS networked audio range.

Before You Buy

Installer Note: The C1310-E Mk II draws power via IEEE 802.3af PoE, so confirm your switch ports support 802.3af before cabling. The horn dispersion pattern means mounting angle affects coverage significantly - position the speaker so the horn faces the intended listening zone directly rather than relying on reflected sound. For multi-zone deployments, map zones in AXIS Audio Manager Edge before installation to confirm which switch ports and VLANs each speaker requires.

Microphone Use: The built-in microphone is designed for two-way communication and ambient monitoring, not for high-sensitivity audio detection. If the deployment requires audio analytics or triggered recording from sound events, a dedicated network audio detection device will perform more reliably alongside this speaker.

Quick Fit Check

  • Good match if: You are adding outdoor audio to an existing PoE network and need a weatherproof IP66 horn speaker that runs on a single Cat5e cable with no separate amplifier.
  • Good match if: Your site already uses AXIS cameras or AXIS Audio Manager Edge and you need an additional outdoor zone speaker that slots into the same managed audio platform natively.
  • You may need a different model if: The requirement is for a video intercom with a display panel, or for an indoor PA system where even audio coverage and audio fidelity are priorities - a network video intercom or indoor network speaker will be a better fit for those scenarios.

Real-World Scenarios

Warehouse Loading Dock

A logistics operator mounts the C1310-E Mk II above the dock roller door. When a truck approaches after hours, the control room uses the two-way microphone to challenge the driver and broadcast dock allocation instructions without leaving the monitoring station.

School Oval and Grounds

A school installs 4 C1310-E Mk II speakers across outdoor zones managed via AXIS Audio Manager Edge. Bell tones and emergency broadcasts are scheduled or triggered centrally, covering the oval and covered areas from PoE switch ports in the comms room.

Car Park Perimeter

A shopping centre integrator pairs the C1310-E Mk II with existing AXIS cameras at perimeter entry points. When a camera event triggers, operators broadcast a live deterrent message to the zone directly from the VMS client using SIP, without switching to a separate audio console.

Outdoor Vehicle Entry Point

A gated industrial facility uses the C1310-E Mk II at the entry boom gate alongside an AXIS camera. Reception staff initiate a SIP call to the speaker to communicate with drivers, confirming deliveries and issuing access without an additional dedicated intercom unit.

Aged Care Outdoor Zone

An aged care facility adds the C1310-E Mk II to an outdoor garden area to extend its existing AXIS audio network. Staff can broadcast activity announcements or call residents inside during weather changes from the nurse station, using the same PoE network already supporting the CCTV system.

How It Compares

  • Choose this if: You need an outdoor PoE horn speaker with a built-in microphone that integrates natively with AXIS Audio Manager Edge and supports SIP for two-way communication from a single cable run.
  • You may need a different model if: The site requires a video intercom with a display and keypad at the entry point, or if indoor even-coverage PA is the goal - a network video intercom or indoor network ceiling speaker will serve those applications better.
  • Pairs well with: AXIS PoE network switches, AXIS IP cameras with event-based audio trigger output, and SIP-capable VoIP phone systems or NVRs with audio management features.

Common Questions

  1. Does this speaker need a separate power supply or amplifier?

No. The C1310-E Mk II is powered entirely via IEEE 802.3af PoE, so a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable from a compatible PoE switch carries both power and network audio data. No external amplifier, transformer, or mains power outlet is required at the speaker location.
  2. Will this speaker work with an existing VoIP or SIP phone system?

Yes. The C1310-E Mk II supports SIP, which means it can register as a SIP endpoint on a standard VoIP system. Reception staff or security operators can initiate a live broadcast or two-way call to the outdoor speaker zone directly from any SIP-compatible client - desk phone, software phone, or NVR audio output - without a separate audio controller.
  3. Does the C1310-E Mk II support two-way audio?

Yes. The Mk II generation includes both a built-in speaker and a built-in microphone, enabling full two-way communication. An operator can speak to the outdoor zone and hear audio back from the environment. This makes it usable as a basic challenge station at vehicle entry points or unmanned access areas without a separate intercom device.
  4. Is the C1310-E Mk II suitable for permanent outdoor installation in Australian weather conditions?

Yes. The speaker carries an IP66 weatherproof rating, meaning it is fully protected against dust ingress and high-pressure water jets. It is designed for permanent outdoor mounting on walls, poles, or eaves without requiring an additional protective housing. The operating temperature range covers the climatic conditions found across most Australian installation environments.
  5. Does this speaker integrate with AXIS camera systems and AXIS Audio Manager Edge?

Yes. The C1310-E Mk II is fully compatible with AXIS Audio Manager Edge, which is the same management platform used across the AXIS networked audio range stocked by Security Australia. It can be grouped into audio zones, assigned schedules, and triggered by camera events within the AXIS ecosystem, all managed from a single web-based interface without third-party audio software.
  6. How many C1310-E Mk II speakers can run from a single PoE switch?

Each speaker draws power under the IEEE 802.3af standard (up to 15.4W per port available, speaker consumption is well within that budget), so the number of speakers is limited by the number of PoE ports on your switch rather than any per-device constraint. A 24-port PoE switch can, in principle, power up to 24 speakers depending on total switch PoE budget. Plan your switch's total wattage budget when designing multi-zone outdoor audio deployments.
  7. Is the horn dispersion pattern adjustable?

No. The C1310-E Mk II uses a fixed horn design, so coverage direction is determined by mounting angle and orientation at install time. Plan the mounting position carefully - face the horn directly toward the intended coverage area rather than relying on reflected sound. For large open areas requiring coverage in multiple directions, consider multiple speakers rather than attempting to cover a wide arc from a single angled unit.
