Product Overview

Model: HiLook 4CH AcuSense Turret Kit 4x IPC-T361H-MU

Who This Is For

For small business owners and residential installers who need a complete, plug-and-play 6MP surveillance system without assembling components separately, this HiLook AcuSense Turret Kit is built around that exact brief. The bundle pairs 4 x IPC-T361H-MU turret cameras with the NVR-104MH-C/4P, a 4-channel PoE NVR that powers all cameras directly over the network cable - no separate power runs required. AcuSense AI classification filters alerts by human and vehicle targets, which means far fewer false notifications triggered by trees, animals, or passing headlights. The turret housing suits eave, soffit, and wall mounting equally well, making it practical across mixed installation positions around a home, small office, or retail shopfront. If you are comparing entry-level kits and want 6MP resolution with genuine AI filtering rather than basic motion detection, this kit is worth a close look.

What This System Actually Does

AcuSense Human & Vehicle Classification

The IPC-T361H-MU uses AcuSense deep-learning to separate humans and vehicles from other motion. Alerts are only sent when a person or vehicle is detected, dramatically cutting nuisance notifications compared to pixel-based motion detection.

6MP Resolution

At 6 megapixels, each camera captures considerably more detail than a 4MP or 1080p unit. Wider scenes can be covered from a single camera position, and footage holds up better when zoomed in for identification purposes during playback.

Built-In 4-Port PoE Switch

The NVR-104MH-C/4P has 4 integrated PoE ports, so each camera receives both power and data through a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable. No separate PoE switch or power adaptors are needed, simplifying the installation significantly.

IR Night Vision

Each IPC-T361H-MU includes infrared LEDs for low-light and complete darkness coverage. The turret housing positions the IR emitters close to the lens, minimising the lens flare and hotspot issues more common in bullet camera designs.

H.265+ Compression

Both the cameras and the NVR support H.265+ encoding, which reduces file sizes substantially compared to H.264. That directly extends how many days of footage a given hard drive holds, reducing how often storage needs to be managed or upgraded.

IP67-Rated Turret Housing

The IPC-T361H-MU carries an IP67 ingress protection rating, meaning it is fully dustproof and protected against water immersion. The ball-in-socket turret design allows the lens to be aimed after mounting without altering the camera's sealed footprint on the ceiling or wall.

Who Buys This Model

  • Small business owners: Retail shops, cafes, and small offices fitting 4 camera positions who want AcuSense AI filtering to reduce after-hours false alarms without paying for a commercial-grade system.
  • Residential installers: Tradespeople running a single cable to each camera position around a home, using the NVR's built-in PoE switch to eliminate the need for a separate switch or individual power supplies.
  • Property managers: Managing strata units or small commercial tenancies who need a self-contained 4-camera system with local recording that does not depend on cloud subscriptions.
  • DIY upgraders: Existing CCTV users stepping up from 1080p to 6MP resolution who want a matched kit where the cameras and NVR are confirmed compatible out of the box.

Honest Assessment

This kit's strongest argument is the combination of 6MP resolution and AcuSense AI filtering at an entry-level price point. Having human and vehicle classification built into the cameras - rather than relying on NVR-side processing - means the AI works accurately regardless of how the NVR's processing load sits. The single-cable PoE architecture also makes this genuinely straightforward to install in a day for a competent tradesperson or confident DIY owner. The H.265+ compression across both cameras and NVR means a reasonably sized hard drive goes a long way in terms of retention days. Where this kit reaches its limits: it ships without a hard drive, so storage must be budgeted and purchased separately. It is also a fixed 4-channel system, and the NVR-104MH-C/4P does not expand beyond 4 ports - if 6 or 8 camera positions are likely in future, a larger NVR platform available through Security Australia would be the better starting point.

Complete Package Contents

  • 4 x HiLook IPC-T361H-MU - 6MP AcuSense turret camera, IP67, IR night vision, built-in microphone, PoE
  • 1 x HiLook NVR-104MH-C/4P - 4-channel PoE NVR, supports up to 8MP, H.265+, HDMI + VGA output, 1x SATA bay (HDD not included)

Before You Buy

Hard Drive Not Included: The NVR-104MH-C/4P has 1 x SATA bay but ships without a hard drive. For 4 x 6MP cameras recording continuously at H.265+, a 4TB surveillance-grade HDD will typically hold 10 to 14 days of footage depending on scene activity. Budget for a WD Purple or Seagate SkyHawk drive - standard desktop drives are not rated for the continuous write cycles of a recording NVR.

Cable Run Planning: The NVR's built-in PoE ports support standard IEEE 802.3af power delivery. Each IPC-T361H-MU draws under 8W, well within that budget. Keep individual camera cable runs under 100 metres (Cat5e or Cat6) for reliable PoE delivery. If any position exceeds that distance, a mid-span PoE injector or a separate PoE switch with uplink to the NVR will be needed for those specific runs.

Quick Fit Check

  • Good match if: You have exactly 4 camera positions and want AcuSense human/vehicle filtering to keep after-hours alerts actionable rather than constant.
  • Good match if: You are running new cable to each position and want a single Cat5e or Cat6 run per camera to carry both power and data back to one central NVR.
  • You may need a different model if: You need more than 4 camera positions now or expect to expand - a larger-channel PoE NVR kit with an 8-channel or 16-channel recorder would be a more practical starting point.

Real-World Scenarios

Retail Shopfront After Hours

A small retailer mounts 4 cameras covering the entrance, shopfloor, and rear lane. AcuSense filters out headlights and blowing debris - notifications only fire when a person or vehicle is actually detected near the building after close.

Residential Perimeter

4 cameras cover the front driveway, both side gates, and backyard on a suburban home. A single cable run per camera keeps the installation tidy, and the PoE NVR sits in a network cabinet without needing a separate switch or power board for the cameras.

Small Office Fitout

An accountant fitting out a 4-room office suite installs 1 camera per zone - reception, server room, main entrance, and car park. The 6MP resolution gives enough detail across wider indoor scenes without needing additional camera positions in each room.

Rental Property Management

A property manager installs this kit at a high-turnover rental to monitor external entry points. Local recording to the NVR means footage is retained on-site without a recurring cloud subscription, and IP67-rated housings handle wet eave positions without issue.

Childcare or Allied Health Clinic

A 4-camera kit covers a childcare entry, outdoor play area, and two internal corridors. The built-in microphone on each IPC-T361H-MU adds audio context to recorded incidents without requiring a separate audio device at each camera point.

How It Compares

  • Choose this if: You need a complete 4-camera 6MP system with AcuSense AI filtering, PoE simplicity, and local recording in a single matched purchase.
  • You may need a different model if: Your site requires more than 4 cameras, colour night vision, or optical zoom - an 8-channel PoE kit with TiOC or motorised-lens cameras would serve those requirements better.
  • Pairs well with: A surveillance-grade 3.5-inch SATA hard drive (4TB or 6TB) and a wall-mount monitor or HDMI-connected display for the NVR.

Common Questions

  1. Does this kit include a hard drive?

No. The NVR-104MH-C/4P ships without a hard drive installed. It has 1 x SATA bay and accepts surveillance-grade 3.5-inch drives. For 4 x 6MP cameras recording continuously using H.265+ compression, a 4TB drive typically provides around 10 to 14 days of continuous footage, depending on scene activity levels.
  2. Will this kit work with cameras I already own from other brands?

Partially. The NVR-104MH-C/4P supports ONVIF-compatible IP cameras from other manufacturers, but AcuSense AI features and smart detection functions only operate with compatible HiLook and Hikvision cameras. Third-party cameras connected via ONVIF will record, but will not benefit from human and vehicle classification.
  3. Does this system support remote viewing on a phone?

Yes. The NVR-104MH-C/4P supports remote access via the Hik-Connect app, available on iOS and Android. Live view, playback, and push notifications (including AcuSense human and vehicle alerts) can be accessed remotely provided the NVR is connected to a router with internet access.
  4. What does AcuSense actually do differently from standard motion detection?

AcuSense uses deep-learning AI built into the IPC-T361H-MU cameras to classify detected objects as human, vehicle, or other. Standard motion detection triggers on any pixel change - blowing leaves, rain, passing headlights - generating constant false alerts. AcuSense restricts notifications to confirmed human or vehicle detections, making after-hours monitoring genuinely usable without alert fatigue.
  5. Does the IPC-T361H-MU record audio as well as video?

Yes. The MU suffix in the model name confirms a built-in microphone is fitted to each camera. Audio is recorded alongside video to the NVR. Note that Australian state and territory laws govern where audio recording is and is not permitted - confirm compliance for your specific installation location before enabling audio recording.
  6. Can I expand this system beyond 4 cameras later?

No, not within this NVR. The NVR-104MH-C/4P is a fixed 4-channel unit with 4 PoE ports and cannot be expanded. If expansion beyond 4 cameras is anticipated, the correct approach is to start with an 8-channel or 16-channel PoE NVR from the outset. The IPC-T361H-MU cameras are fully compatible with larger HiLook and Hikvision NVRs, so the cameras from this kit could migrate to a larger recorder. The range is available through Security Australia if a larger-channel system is required.
  7. How far can I run the camera cables from the NVR?

Up to 100 metres per run on Cat5e or Cat6 cable for reliable PoE power delivery and network performance. This is a standard Ethernet limitation, not specific to this NVR. For positions beyond 100 metres, a mid-span PoE injector or a separate PoE switch positioned closer to the camera, with a network uplink cable back to the NVR, will maintain performance on those longer runs.

Cabling Considerations

  • Cable Type: Cat5e minimum, Cat6 recommended for new installations. Use outdoor-rated (UV-stabilised) sheathing for external runs.
  • Max Cable Run: 100 metres per camera from NVR PoE port to camera. Beyond this distance, signal and PoE power delivery become unreliable.
  • PoE Notes: The NVR-104MH-C/4P provides IEEE 802.3af PoE on all 4 ports. Each IPC-T361H-MU draws under 8W, comfortably within the 15.4W per-port budget. No PoE injectors or external power supplies are needed for the cameras.
  • Wiring Tips: Terminate all cables with a proper RJ45 crimp tool and test continuity before finalising camera positions. Avoid running camera cables parallel to mains power cabling for extended distances - cross at 90 degrees where paths must intersect to minimise interference.
