Product Overview
Model: HiLook Turret AcuSense Kit - 6MP / 8CH NVR - 5 x T262H Cameras
Who This Is For
When keeping false alarm fatigue to a minimum is the priority, this HiLook 6MP AcuSense kit is built for the job. Residential installers and small business owners dealing with busy outdoor environments - driveways, carparks, side gates, and yard perimeters - will find the AcuSense human and vehicle classification genuinely useful. Standard motion detection triggers on wind-blown trees, animals, and passing headlights. AcuSense filters those out using deep learning, so alerts only fire when a person or vehicle enters the frame. The kit pairs 5 x IPC-T262H-MU turret cameras with a HiLook NVR-108MH-C-8P, an 8-channel PoE NVR that powers and records all cameras over a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable run per camera. At 6MP resolution, footage holds enough detail for face and plate recognition review during playback. Three spare NVR channels leave room to add cameras as the site grows.
What This Kit Actually Does
AcuSense Human and Vehicle Classification
Deep learning algorithms built into each IPC-T262H-MU analyse moving objects and classify them as human or vehicle before triggering an alert. Pets, wind, and passing car lights do not set off notifications. Useful on any site where standard motion detection has become a nuisance rather than a security tool.
6MP Resolution for Playback Detail
At 3072 x 2048, each camera captures enough pixel density to digitally zoom into recorded footage during an incident review. A wide 2.8mm lens covers a broad field of view from eave or soffit mount, making it practical for entry points, driveways, and open yard areas without sacrificing detail.
30m EXIR Night Vision
EXIR infrared illumination reaches up to 30 metres in complete darkness. Unlike basic IR cameras, EXIR distributes light more evenly across the frame, reducing the washed-out centre hotspot that appears on cheaper cameras. The 120dB True WDR handles high-contrast scenes like backlit doorways without losing shadow or highlight detail.
8-Channel PoE NVR with 3 Spare Ports
The HiLook NVR-108MH-C-8P powers all 5 cameras over PoE and records centrally - no separate power adaptors at each camera location. With 3 ports unused, the system can expand to 8 cameras without replacing the recorder. A single cable run per camera keeps installation clean and straightforward.
H.265+ Compression Reduces Storage Demand
Recording 5 cameras at 6MP continuously generates substantial data. H.265+ compression reduces storage requirements by up to 70% compared to H.264, which means a given HDD size delivers significantly more days of recorded footage. This matters when sizing the hard drive that needs to be added to the NVR before use.
Who Buys This Model
- Residential installers: Fitting a complete outdoor system to a house with driveway, side access, and backyard coverage - the 5-camera count suits the typical 4-5 zone residential layout, and 3 spare NVR channels handle future additions.
- Small business owners: Retail stores, cafes, and trade premises that need AcuSense alert filtering so staff are not chasing false alarms through footage every morning.
- Property managers: Specifying a camera system for a rental property or strata common area where a tidy eave-mounted turret profile and IP67 weather resistance suit outdoor conditions without requiring specialist mounting hardware.
- DIY buyers with structured cabling already in place: Anyone who has Cat5e or Cat6 runs to camera positions and wants a single PoE NVR to terminate everything cleanly, without running separate power to each location.
Honest Assessment
This kit genuinely delivers on AcuSense classification - the human and vehicle filtering at this price point is one of the stronger reasons to choose HiLook over budget brands that offer basic motion detection only. The 6MP resolution holds well for playback review, and H.265+ keeps storage requirements manageable. IP67 weatherproofing on each camera handles Australian outdoor conditions without concern. The built-in microphone on each IPC-T262H-MU records audio alongside video, though there is no built-in speaker, so listen-only audio is what this system provides - not two-way communication. The fixed 2.8mm lens is wide-angle by design, which suits general coverage but is not suitable for long-distance identification at approaches beyond 10-15 metres. Sites needing telephoto reach or active PTZ tracking should look at a different camera type available through Security Australia. No hard drive is included - this must be budgeted separately before the system records anything.
Complete Package Contents
- 5 x HiLook IPC-T262H-MU - 6MP AcuSense Turret Camera, 2.8mm fixed lens, 30m EXIR IR, IP67, built-in microphone
- 1 x HiLook NVR-108MH-C-8P - 8-channel PoE NVR, H.265+, no HDD included
Note: No hard drive is included. A compatible HDD must be added separately before the system will record footage.
Before You Buy
HDD Sizing: The NVR-108MH-C-8P has no included hard drive. With 5 cameras at 6MP and H.265+ enabled, a 4TB surveillance-grade HDD typically provides 20-30 days of continuous recording depending on motion activity settings. A 6TB or 8TB drive extends this significantly. Use a surveillance-rated HDD (not a desktop drive) to handle the NVR's 24/7 write cycles without premature failure.
AcuSense Setup: AcuSense classification requires correct configuration in the NVR's event settings - it does not operate automatically out of the box on alert filtering. During commissioning, enable human and vehicle detection rules per camera in the NVR interface and set detection zones to exclude road traffic or neighbouring properties that would generate constant triggers.
Quick Fit Check
- Good match if: You are covering a residential property or small commercial site with 5 camera positions and want AcuSense filtering to reduce false push notifications - the IPC-T262H-MU handles this at the camera level before anything reaches your phone.
- Good match if: Your camera positions already have Cat5e or Cat6 cable runs and you want a single PoE NVR to power and record everything without separate power supplies at each point - the NVR-108MH-C-8P handles up to 8 cameras this way.
- You may need a different model if: Your site has long approaches, carpark exits, or entry lanes where you need to read number plates at 15+ metres - a fixed 2.8mm wide-angle lens is not suited to that task, and a varifocal or ANPR-specific camera system would serve better.
Key Features & Technical Specifications
Real-World Scenarios
How It Compares
- Choose this if: You need a complete 5-camera PoE system with AcuSense human and vehicle filtering already built in at camera level, without buying cameras and NVR separately and checking compatibility.
- You may need a different model if: Your site has a long driveway, carpark approach, or entry lane where identifying faces or plates at distance is the primary goal - a varifocal or motorised zoom camera system is better suited to that application.
- Pairs well with: A surveillance-grade 3.5-inch internal HDD (4TB minimum recommended for 5 cameras) and a PoE-capable network switch if cameras are positioned beyond the NVR's direct cable reach.
Common Questions
-
Does this kit include a hard drive?
No. The HiLook NVR-108MH-C-8P ships without a hard drive installed. The NVR will operate and display live camera feeds without an HDD, but it will not record any footage until a compatible surveillance-grade drive is installed. A 4TB drive is a reasonable starting point for 5 cameras recording at 6MP with H.265+ enabled, giving approximately 20-30 days of footage depending on motion activity and compression settings. -
Will this kit work for a small business with a carpark?
Yes, for general carpark presence detection, though with an important limitation. The IPC-T262H-MU cameras have a fixed 2.8mm wide-angle lens, which is suited to broad coverage at close to medium range. For a small carpark where you want to confirm whether someone is present after hours, the AcuSense vehicle classification and 6MP resolution perform well. For reading number plates at a carpark entry or exit lane beyond 10-15 metres, a varifocal or ANPR-specific camera would be more appropriate. -
Does AcuSense actually reduce false alarms, or is it just marketing?
Yes, it works - but it requires correct setup. AcuSense uses deep learning at the camera level to classify moving objects as human or vehicle before flagging an alert. Unlike standard pixel-change motion detection, it ignores animals, tree movement, and ambient light changes. The classification rules must be enabled in the NVR's event configuration per camera channel. Once configured correctly, the reduction in nuisance alerts compared to standard motion detection is measurable on any site with environmental movement like wind or passing traffic. -
Does this system support two-way audio through the cameras?
No. Each IPC-T262H-MU has a built-in microphone, which records audio to the NVR alongside video. There is no built-in speaker in these cameras, so audio is listen-only during playback review. If you need to speak through a camera to someone on-site, a two-way audio capable camera with a built-in speaker would be required. -
How many more cameras can I add to this system later?
Up to 3 additional cameras. The NVR-108MH-C-8P has 8 PoE channels and this kit uses 5, leaving 3 ports available. Any HiLook or Hikvision IP camera compatible with the NVR can be added on those spare ports without purchasing a new recorder. This makes the kit a reasonable starting point for sites that may grow in coverage requirements within the next 12-24 months. The range available through Security Australia includes compatible add-on cameras that integrate directly with this NVR. -
How far does the night vision reach on the IPC-T262H-MU cameras?
Up to 30 metres. The EXIR infrared illumination is designed to distribute light more evenly across the image than standard IR, reducing the overexposed centre bloom that appears at close range on cheaper cameras. At 30 metres the image switches to greyscale IR mode. There is no colour night vision on this model - colour imaging requires sufficient ambient light.
Cabling Considerations
- Cable Type: Cat5e minimum, Cat6 recommended for runs over 50 metres or in environments with potential interference.
- Max Cable Run: 100 metres per camera from the NVR's PoE port to the camera, per IEEE 802.3 standard. Runs beyond 100 metres require a PoE extender or intermediate switch.
- PoE Notes: The NVR-108MH-C-8P provides PoE power directly on all 8 ports. No separate PoE switch or power injectors are needed for the 5 included cameras. Check the NVR's total PoE budget if adding high-power cameras on the remaining ports in future.
- Wiring Tips: Run cable before mounting cameras - the IPC-T262H-MU turret housing requires the cable to exit through the mounting base. Use an IP-rated cable gland or self-amalgamating tape at any outdoor wall penetration to prevent moisture ingress over time.
