Product Overview
Model: DS-K1T502DBWX-C
Who This Is For
For installers and property managers specifying a compact all-in-one entry terminal for apartments, villas, and small residential sites where PIN access, video verification, and door-station intercom need to be delivered from a single surface-mounted unit. The Hikvision DS-K1T502DBWX-C combines a built-in camera, keypad, card reader, and two-way audio intercom into one wired door station - removing the need to co-mount separate devices at an entry point. It suits strata blocks, townhouse complexes, and detached homes where residents or monitoring staff need to see and speak with visitors before releasing a door strike or electric lock. It fits naturally into a Hikvision Gen2 video intercom ecosystem, making it a practical choice for integrators already working within that platform.
What This Terminal Actually Does
Built-In Camera for Visual Verification
The integrated camera lets a resident or operator see who is at the door before granting access. Combined with the intercom function, this delivers a full see-and-speak workflow from a single unit without needing a separate IP camera installed at the entry point.
PIN Keypad Access
The onboard numeric keypad allows code-based entry for residents, staff, or service personnel. PIN access is useful where card or fob management is impractical - delivery areas, secondary entries, or small sites where credential issuing needs to stay simple.
Card Reader for Credential-Based Entry
The integrated card reader supports contactless credential access, allowing sites to issue cards or fobs to residents and staff. This keeps a managed access record and removes reliance on shared PIN codes that can be passed on after a tenant departs.
Two-Way Audio Intercom
With a built-in microphone and speaker, the DS-K1T502DBWX-C supports live voice communication between visitor and resident or monitoring point. Visitors can announce themselves, and occupants can respond and release the door without leaving the premises.
Gen2 Video Intercom Platform Integration
The terminal operates within the Hikvision Gen2 video intercom ecosystem, meaning it connects directly with compatible indoor stations, door controllers, and management software. For sites already using this platform, it slots in without requiring a separate access control system or bridge device.
Who Buys This Model
- Strata and apartment installers: Specifying a single door station that handles video, audio, PIN, and card access from one surface-mounted unit - reducing conduit runs and mounting hardware at each entry point.
- Villa and townhouse integrators: Deploying a video intercom door station at a front gate or entry door where the resident needs to see, hear, and verify a visitor before releasing an electric lock or strike.
- Property managers upgrading legacy intercoms: Replacing older audio-only call points with a unit that adds camera-based visual verification and card access without requiring a full access control panel at the door.
- Hikvision Gen2 platform users: Sites already running Hikvision indoor stations and management software who need a compatible wired door station that integrates into the existing ecosystem without additional bridging hardware.
Honest Assessment
The DS-K1T502DBWX-C does the consolidation job well - combining a camera, keypad, card reader, and two-way intercom into one unit genuinely reduces installation complexity at residential and light commercial entries. For sites already committed to the Hikvision Gen2 video intercom platform, it integrates without friction and avoids the cost of co-mounting separate devices. The PIN and card options give sites flexible credential management from day one. Where it will not serve well is in high-traffic commercial environments requiring multi-door control, advanced access scheduling, or lift integration - those scenarios benefit from a dedicated access control panel rather than a door station terminal. It is also not the right fit where long-range visitor detection or licence plate capture at a vehicle entry is the primary requirement. The DS-K1T502DBWX-C is stocked by Security Australia and is best suited to managed residential entries where simplicity and platform consistency matter most.
Before You Buy
Platform Compatibility: The DS-K1T502DBWX-C is designed for the Hikvision Gen2 video intercom ecosystem. Before specifying this unit, confirm that your indoor stations, door controllers, and any management software are Gen2-compatible - mixing Gen1 and Gen2 Hikvision intercom devices on the same system is not supported and will cause communication failures.
Door Lock Wiring: This terminal connects to an electric strike or magnetic lock via a door controller or relay - it does not directly power high-current locks from the terminal itself. Plan your lock wiring and relay position during rough-in, and verify that your chosen lock type (fail-safe or fail-secure) suits the site's egress and fire compliance requirements.
Quick Fit Check
- Good match if: You are installing a door station for a residential apartment or villa entry where PIN, card, video, and intercom all need to be handled from one surface-mounted unit within a Hikvision Gen2 platform.
- Good match if: You are upgrading an audio-only intercom to include visual verification and contactless card access without adding a separate IP camera or standalone access controller to the entry point.
- You may need a different model if: Your site requires multi-door access control with centralised scheduling, lift relay integration, or high-volume credential management - a dedicated access control panel and separate door station will be more appropriate for that scope.

Real-World Scenarios
How It Compares
- Choose this if: You need a single wired door station that combines PIN keypad, card reader, camera, and two-way intercom in one unit for a residential or light commercial entry within the Hikvision Gen2 ecosystem.
- You may need a different model if: Your site requires multi-door access control with centralised event management, time-zone scheduling across multiple readers, or lift integration - a standalone access control panel paired with individual door readers will handle that scope more effectively.
- Pairs well with: A compatible Hikvision Gen2 indoor station for each dwelling or monitoring point, and a network switch or PoE switch for structured cabling across a multi-unit building.
Common Questions
-
Does this terminal work with any video intercom indoor station, or only Hikvision Gen2 units?
Only Hikvision Gen2 indoor stations. The DS-K1T502DBWX-C is built for the Hikvision Gen2 video intercom platform and communicates using that platform's protocol. It will not pair with Gen1 Hikvision indoor stations, third-party SIP intercoms, or other brands without a compatible SIP gateway - and that configuration is not guaranteed to be supported. -
Will this terminal control a gate motor or electric door strike directly?
Not directly from the terminal alone. The DS-K1T502DBWX-C signals door release through the Gen2 platform, which connects to a door controller or relay that then drives the lock or gate motor. Your installer will need to include a compatible door controller or relay board in the design - the terminal itself does not carry the current load of the locking hardware. -
Does the camera on this terminal record footage, or is it only for live intercom calls?
The camera is primarily for live video during an intercom call. Whether call snapshots or video are stored depends on the Hikvision Gen2 platform configuration - indoor stations with a microSD slot or a connected NVR on the system can capture visit images. Confirm your indoor station model and recording setup before assuming local storage is available at the door station itself. -
How many cards or PIN codes can this terminal hold?
The credential capacity is determined by the Gen2 platform and any connected access controller, not purely by the terminal itself. For exact card and PIN limits applicable to your specific system configuration, check the Hikvision Gen2 platform documentation or contact Security Australia before finalising your credential management plan. -
Is this terminal suitable for outdoor installation at a front gate or building entry?
Yes, the DS-K1T502DBWX-C is designed for door station use at building entries and gate positions. For fully exposed outdoor installations - particularly those facing direct weather - confirm the IP rating against your site conditions and consider a protective canopy or surface-mount back box with a weather hood to extend the service life of the unit in heavy rain environments. -
Can one DS-K1T502DBWX-C call multiple apartments or dwellings in a strata block?
Yes. The terminal supports calling multiple indoor station addresses, making it suitable as a lobby door station in an apartment building where visitors need to dial a specific unit number from the keypad. The number of apartments or units supported depends on the Gen2 platform's configuration and the capacity of the indoor stations deployed in the system.
Cabling Considerations
- Cable Type: Cat5e or Cat6 for network/PoE connection to the Hikvision Gen2 platform and any connected switch or NVR.
- Max Cable Run: Up to 100m per Cat5e/Cat6 PoE run from switch to terminal. For longer distances between buildings, use a PoE extender or fibre media converter.
- Lock Wiring: A separate 2-core cable run is required from the door controller or relay board to the electric strike or magnetic lock. Cable size depends on the lock's current draw - check the lock manufacturer's wiring specifications before rough-in.
- Wiring Tips: Run conduit from the terminal back box to a central comms point during rough-in - retrofitting cable through a finished wall or gate post after the fact is significantly more complex. If the entry point is remote from the main building, plan your switch or PoE injector placement to keep individual runs within the 100m limit.
