Hikvision DS-2DF8C435MHS-DELW 4MP 35X DarkFighterX PTZ Camera, Dual-Sensor, IR 300m, IP67 IK10
The DS-2DF8C435MHS-DELW delivers dual-sensor DarkFighterX imaging with 35x optical zoom for security integrators and installers managing large sites that demand clear identification at long range. The dual-sensor configuration combines a standard imaging channel with a dedicated low-light sensor, producing full-colour detail in near-darkness at distances where single-sensor PTZs fall short. Rated IP67 and IK10, it suits exposed outdoor environments including coastal and high-vandal-risk locations.
Why This Model
- Dual-sensor DarkFighterX: The dedicated low-light sensor works alongside the primary 4MP channel so the camera maintains full-colour imagery in near-zero-light conditions, reducing reliance on IR alone and producing more usable evidence-grade footage.
- 35x optical zoom with 300m IR: At 35x, the camera can optically close in on subjects or vehicles across distances that would defeat fixed lenses, while the 300m IR range ensures that reach is maintained even in complete darkness.
- IK10 + IP67 build: The IK10 vandal resistance rating and IP67 ingress protection mean this unit can be deployed in exposed, high-risk outdoor positions - including coastal or industrial sites - without additional housing.

Product Overview
Model: DS-2DF8C435MHS-DELW
Who This Is For
When long-range identification across a wide, open site is the priority, a standard fixed camera simply cannot cover the distances involved. The Hikvision DS-2DF8C435MHS-DELW is built for large-scale outdoor deployments where operators need a single camera position to cover expansive approaches - think perimeter fencing at industrial parks, port entry zones, mining sites, and large logistics facilities. The dual-sensor design means the wide-angle channel keeps a persistent overview of the full scene while the 35x optical zoom channel homes in on specific targets for identification, and the DarkFighterX technology pulls usable colour detail from near-darkness. With 300m IR range, IK10 vandal resistance, and IP67 weatherproofing, this unit is specified for exposed installations where both the environment and the threat level are serious. Security integrators and facility managers dealing with after-hours intrusion detection across large land areas are the primary buyers.
What This Camera Actually Does
35x Optical Zoom
A true optical zoom ratio of 35x means the camera can shift from a broad site overview to a tight identification frame without degrading image quality. At distance, a vehicle plate or a person's face can be resolved in detail that a fixed lens simply cannot achieve from the same mounting position.
Dual-Sensor Architecture
Two independent sensors operate simultaneously - one holds a wide contextual view of the scene while the other zooms for close detail. Operators do not have to choose between overview and detail; both streams are available at the same time, which is critical for incident review and real-time response.
DarkFighterX Low-Light Performance
DarkFighterX is Hikvision's dual-sensor low-light technology that fuses colour and monochrome data to produce usable colour images in near-zero ambient light. On unlit perimeters and dark access roads this produces far more forensically useful footage than a standard colour camera with IR alone.
300m IR Illumination
The built-in IR illuminator reaches 300 metres, giving the camera the ability to detect movement and resolve detail at long range in total darkness. This is particularly important at the far end of a zoomed shot, where ambient light falls away quickly and IR carry becomes the determining factor in image quality.
IP67 and IK10 Rated Housing
IP67 means the housing is fully dust-tight and can handle water immersion to 1 metre - rain, hose-down washdowns, and coastal spray are not concerns. IK10 is the top mechanical impact rating, meaning the dome globe and housing resist direct blows, which matters on industrial sites and exposed perimeter poles where tampering is a realistic risk.
4MP Resolution
At 4 megapixels, the camera captures sufficient pixel density to support identification at the zoomed end of the lens range. Combined with the 35x optical zoom, 4MP resolution at the tele end still delivers workable detail on subjects at significant distance - an important consideration when specifying for evidentiary-grade footage.
Who Buys This Model
- Industrial Facility Security Managers: Specifying a single high-capability PTZ to cover a long perimeter fence line or loading dock approach where a fixed camera array would require many more positions and cable runs.
- Mining and Resources Site Operators: Requiring IK10-rated hardware that can withstand both environmental punishment and deliberate tampering at remote, unmanned gate entry points operating overnight without reliable ambient lighting.
- Port and Logistics Terminal Integrators: Deploying PTZ units on high poles to monitor vehicle movements across large paved areas where the dual-sensor overview-and-zoom architecture allows one operator to watch the broad picture and interrogate specific activity simultaneously.
- Critical Infrastructure Security Integrators: Designing monitored perimeter systems where after-hours colour identification at range - enabled by DarkFighterX - is a baseline project requirement rather than a nice-to-have.
Honest Assessment
The DS-2DF8C435MHS-DELW genuinely earns its place at the upper end of the PTZ market. The combination of 35x optical zoom, DarkFighterX dual-sensor low-light processing, and 300m IR reach makes it one of the more capable tools available for long-range outdoor identification in difficult lighting. The IK10 and IP67 ratings mean it can be installed in genuinely harsh locations without housing compromise being a concern. Where it will not serve well is in applications that require wide-area continuous coverage without an operator actively managing pan and tilt - a multi-sensor panoramic camera or a fixed wide-angle unit would be more appropriate for unattended overview recording across a broad field. This is a monitored-operations camera, not a set-and-forget installation. It is also a higher-complexity product to commission correctly; integrators unfamiliar with PTZ preset and auto-tracking configuration should factor setup time accordingly. Available through Security Australia, this model is suited to professional installation environments.
Before You Buy
Power Requirements: A PTZ of this class will require PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) or a dedicated 24V AC / 12V DC power supply - standard PoE (802.3bt) at 51 W is insufficient for the pan/tilt motors, IR illuminator, and heater combined. Confirm your switch port budget or local power supply before mounting. Also verify your NVR or VMS supports Hikvision PTZ control protocol if you intend to use preset positions, patrol routes, or auto-tracking functions.
Mounting and Cable Entry: High-pole or parapet-wall installations for this size PTZ dome require a compatible pendant mount or wall bracket rated for the camera's weight and wind loading. Ensure the cable entry point is weather-sealed at the bracket - the IP67 rating applies to the camera body, not a poorly sealed conduit entry. Pre-plan your cable run length; at 300m IR range this unit will often be mounted at distance from the rack.
Quick Fit Check
- Good match if: You need a single camera position to cover a long-range outdoor approach - such as a 200m+ driveway or access road - where the 35x optical zoom and 300m IR allow identification of vehicles or persons at a distance no fixed camera can match from the same pole.
- Good match if: Your installation is on an exposed industrial or mining site where IK10 impact resistance and IP67 weatherproofing are written into the specification and the housing needs to physically withstand attempted tampering.
- You may need a different model if: Your primary requirement is passive wide-area recording across a broad scene with no operator actively controlling the camera - a multi-sensor panoramic camera covering 180 or 360 degrees would provide continuous full-scene coverage that a PTZ cannot replicate when not actively patrolling.
Key Features & Technical Specifications
Real-World Scenarios
How It Compares
- Choose this if: Your site requires long-range identification capability at 100m+ in low or zero ambient light, and an operator or VMS-based auto-tracking will actively manage the camera's pan and tilt to follow activity.
- You may need a different model if: Your primary goal is passive, unattended wide-area recording where the camera is not actively controlled - a multi-sensor panoramic camera permanently covering a broad fixed field of view would serve that use case more reliably than a PTZ left to patrol autonomously.
- Pairs well with: A high-channel PoE+ NVR with PTZ protocol support, paired with fixed wide-angle cameras on adjacent positions to provide continuous scene context that the PTZ supplements with zoomed detail.
Common Questions
-
Does this camera work on standard PoE switches?
No. The DS-2DF8C435MHS-DELW requires PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at, up to 30W) rather than standard PoE (IEEE 802.3bt, 51 W). The power draw of the pan/tilt motors, 300m IR illuminator array, and built-in heater combined exceeds what 802.3bt can supply. Check that your switch has 802.3at-capable ports with sufficient per-port wattage before installing, or plan for a local 24V AC power supply at the camera end. -
What is the difference between DarkFighterX and a standard colour camera?
DarkFighterX uses 2 physical sensors simultaneously - one optimised for colour, one for monochrome low-light sensitivity - and fuses the data from both. A standard colour camera degrades to a noisy, desaturated image in near-darkness, or switches to monochrome IR mode. DarkFighterX maintains colour rendering at light levels well below what a single-sensor camera can handle, producing footage that retains clothing colour, vehicle colour, and skin tone detail at ranges and light levels where a standard camera would show only a grey shape. -
What pan and tilt range does this PTZ cover, and does it auto-flip?
The camera covers 360° continuous pan with no mechanical stop, and -15° to 90° tilt with auto-flip. The 360° continuous pan means patrol routes have no dead zones caused by cable wind-up limits. The auto-flip function automatically inverts the image when the tilt axis passes through the nadir point, so tracking a subject walking directly beneath the camera remains smooth and correctly oriented without operator intervention. -
Will this camera work with non-Hikvision NVRs or VMS platforms?
Yes, with limitations. The DS-2DF8C435MHS-DELW supports ONVIF, which allows basic video streaming integration with third-party NVRs and VMS platforms. However, PTZ-specific functions - preset positions, patrol routes, auto-tracking, and IR sensitivity control - typically require either Hikvision's own NVR/VMS software or a third-party platform with a specific Hikvision PTZ driver. Confirm your VMS has a verified Hikvision PTZ integration before specifying this camera in a mixed-brand system. -
Does this camera support auto-tracking, and how does it behave when a target leaves the frame?
Yes. The DS-2DF8C435MHS-DELW supports auto-tracking, which uses on-board processing to detect and follow a moving target by adjusting pan, tilt, and zoom automatically. When a tracked target exits the frame or is lost, the camera returns to its configured home position or resumes a pre-programmed patrol route depending on how it has been set up in the connected NVR or VMS. Configuring auto-tracking sensitivity and return behaviour correctly at commissioning is important to avoid false triggers from foliage movement or lighting changes in outdoor environments. This model is stocked by Security Australia for professional integration projects. -
What does the dual-sensor design mean for storage and recording?
Two streams are produced simultaneously - one from the wide-angle overview sensor and one from the tele zoom sensor. Both streams can be recorded concurrently, which roughly doubles the storage consumption compared to a single-stream PTZ. Plan your NVR storage and channel count accordingly: you will need 2 recording channels per camera and sufficient HDD capacity for dual-stream recording at your chosen resolution and frame rate settings. -
Is the IK10 rating on the dome globe only, or does it cover the full housing?
The IK10 rating applies to the camera assembly as a unit, covering the dome globe and its surrounding housing structure. IK10 is the highest rating under IEC 62262, indicating resistance to 20 joules of impact energy - equivalent to a 5kg object dropped from 400mm. This is relevant for industrial and perimeter installations where physical interference is a realistic threat, but it does not make the camera indestructible; anchor bolts, conduit entries, and bracket welds should be specified and installed to an equivalent standard to prevent displacement rather than glass breakage being the failure point.
