Product Overview

Model: DHI-ITC413-PW4D-IZ3

Who This Is For

For security integrators and facility managers who need a standalone ANPR solution capable of reading plates at vehicle speeds up to 120 km/h without a separate server or external illuminator. The Dahua DHI-ITC413-PW4D-IZ3 is built around an 8-32 mm motorised vari-focal lens, a built-in LED illuminator rated to 30 metres, and an onboard deep learning processor that handles vehicle classification, brand recognition, and colour detection in real time. Its all-in-one housing - junction box, bracket, illuminator, and signal ports included - simplifies pole or gantry installation at factory gates, industrial compounds, caravan park entries, and private road access points where running separate controller cabling would otherwise add cost and complexity. The camera operates independently, making it a strong fit wherever a self-contained, fixed-approach ANPR deployment is needed without a dedicated traffic enforcement server.

What This Camera Actually Does

Deep Learning ANPR at 120 km/h

The onboard processor reads licence plates on vehicles travelling at up to 120 km/h. It also classifies vehicle type, brand, and colour in real time. All of this runs inside the camera - no external analytics server is required for core plate capture and logging.

Motorised Vari-Focal Lens (8-32 mm)

The 8-32 mm motorised lens lets installers dial in the exact capture zone from ground level or via remote configuration - no manual adjustment on a ladder. At telephoto, the identify distance reaches 40.7 m, meaning plate detail is retained on approaching vehicles well before they reach a gate or barrier.

Built-In Illuminator and All-in-One Housing

The integrated LED illuminator, junction box, and mounting bracket are all part of one housing. This removes the need for a separate IR floodlight or supplementary lighting rig, reduces cable termination points, and keeps the install footprint compact on a pole or gantry arm.

Barrier and External Device Control

Built-in signal, data, and communication ports allow the camera to directly trigger entry and exit barriers, boom gates, or external alarms. This means a single camera and cabling run can handle both capture and access control output without a separate controller unit in many installations.

IVS Perimeter Detection with Active Alarm

Beyond plate reading, the camera supports intrusion and loitering detection through IVS. When a perimeter event is detected, it can trigger both light and voice alarms. Custom audio files can be imported, allowing site-specific deterrent messages to play automatically on detection.

Ultra-Low Light Performance

Minimum colour illumination is 0.001 Lux at F1.6, dropping to 0.0002 Lux in black and white. With the built-in illuminator active, the camera operates at 0 Lux. The large 1/1.8" CMOS sensor and P-Iris control maintain consistent image quality as light conditions change throughout the night.

Who Buys This Model

  • Industrial facility managers: Securing factory compounds and logistics yards where vehicles approaching at normal road speed need to be captured and logged before reaching a boom gate, using the 120 km/h detection capability and built-in barrier control ports.
  • Security integrators deploying standalone ANPR: Projects where running a separate analytics server adds cost or complexity - the onboard deep learning processor handles plate capture, vehicle classification, and brand recognition without additional hardware.
  • Caravan park and private estate operators: Fixed-approach single-lane entry points where one camera needs to capture plates, trigger a barrier, and log vehicle colour and type - all from a compact all-in-one housing on a standard pole mount.
  • Installers specifying perimeter + ANPR in one unit: Sites where IVS loitering and intrusion detection is needed alongside vehicle recognition, removing the need to deploy 2 separate camera types for the same coverage zone.

Honest Assessment

The DHI-ITC413-PW4D-IZ3 does several things well in one housing. The 120 km/h detection speed is a genuine differentiator for fixed-approach driveways, estate roads, or light industrial entries where vehicles are not at a stop. The motorised 8-32 mm lens means the capture zone can be configured precisely for lane width and mounting distance without physical lens changes on site. The IP67 and IK10 ratings confirm it can handle outdoor exposure and physical contact without degradation. Built-in barrier port outputs reduce wiring runs significantly on single-lane access control installations. Where this camera is not the right tool: multi-lane free-flow traffic environments, red-light or speed enforcement requiring certified traffic law compliance, or scenarios needing 360-degree coverage where a panoramic or fisheye camera type would cover more area per position. It is also a fixed-direction unit - any wide-area or pan/tilt requirement points to a PTZ type instead. This model is available through Security Australia.

Before You Buy

Lens and Mounting Angle: The 8-32 mm telephoto range is designed for fixed single-lane approaches where the camera is mounted on a pole beside or above the lane, angled toward oncoming vehicles. At the telephoto end the horizontal field of view narrows to 15.1 degrees, so the camera must be aimed squarely at the lane centre during commissioning - even a few degrees of lateral offset at distance will push plates out of the capture zone. Use the motorised zoom to set the frame during installation rather than adjusting by bracket angle alone. The built-in LED illuminator is rated to 30 metres, so mounting height and distance should be kept within that range for reliable night captures.

Barrier Port Wiring: The integrated signal and communication ports support direct connection to boom gates and entry barriers. Before commissioning, confirm the barrier controller's input voltage and trigger logic are compatible with the camera's output ports. This should be verified at design stage rather than on installation day, particularly on sites with older or third-party barrier hardware.

Quick Fit Check

  • Good match if: You need a single-lane fixed-approach ANPR camera that can read plates at up to 120 km/h and directly trigger a boom gate or barrier without a separate controller, using the built-in signal and communication ports.
  • Good match if: The installation requires perimeter intrusion or loitering detection in the same camera as vehicle recognition - the IVS functionality runs alongside ANPR and supports active light and voice alarm outputs from one unit.
  • You may need a different model if: The site involves multiple lanes, free-flowing traffic, or requires certified speed and red-light enforcement - those applications call for a purpose-built multi-lane traffic enforcement camera type rather than a fixed-approach ANPR unit.

Real-World Scenarios

Factory Gate Entry

A manufacturing compound uses the camera on a pole beside the single inbound lane. Vehicles approaching at up to 120 km/h have their plate read and vehicle type logged before reaching the barrier, which the camera triggers directly via the built-in communication port.

Private Estate Access Control

A gated estate with a single boom gate installs the camera at the driveway approach. The motorised lens is zoomed to frame one lane width at 15 metres. Authorised plates trigger the boom; unrecognised vehicles are logged with colour and brand data for the management report.

After-Hours Perimeter Alert

Outside business hours, IVS loitering detection is activated. A person lingering near the entry triggers the camera's onboard voice alarm, playing a custom deterrent message loaded during commissioning. No separate speaker or alarm controller is required for this function.

Caravan Park Entry Management

A large caravan park installs the camera at a single entry point where guests do not stop to check in. Plates are captured and matched against a whitelist. Unmatched vehicles are flagged for staff review with a timestamped image including vehicle colour and type.

Logistics Yard Night Monitoring

At a freight depot with night truck movements, the built-in LED illuminator and 0 Lux capability keep the camera functional with no external lighting. Truck plates are captured on approach and logged against scheduled delivery windows, flagging any unscheduled arrivals automatically.

How It Compares

  • Choose this if: You need a self-contained ANPR unit for a fixed single-lane approach that reads plates at up to 120 km/h, classifies vehicle type and colour onboard, and directly triggers a barrier - all without a separate analytics server or external illuminator.
  • You may need a different model if: The site involves multiple simultaneous lanes, free-flow traffic across a wide carriageway, or legally certified speed and intersection enforcement - those scenarios require purpose-built multi-lane traffic enforcement camera types rather than a fixed-approach ANPR unit.
  • Pairs well with: An IP NVR with ANPR event search and log export capability, allowing plate capture records and vehicle classification data to be stored, reviewed, and reported centrally across multiple camera positions.

Common Questions

  1. Will this camera read plates on vehicles that are not slowing down at the gate?

Yes. The DHI-ITC413-PW4D-IZ3 variant is rated to detect vehicles at up to 120 km/h. The ultra-fast electronic shutter - ranging from 1/25 s down to 1/100,000 s - combined with progressive scanning on the 1/1.8" CMOS sensor keeps moving plates sharp enough for the onboard deep learning processor to read. This makes it usable at driveways and compound entries where vehicles do not come to a full stop.
  2. Does this camera need a separate server or PC to run ANPR?

No. The plate recognition, vehicle type classification, brand identification, and colour detection all run onboard. The camera has 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM to support the deep learning processor without any external computing hardware. For large-scale deployments with multiple cameras and advanced database matching, an NVR or VMS with ANPR event management is recommended, but the core capture function is entirely self-contained.
  3. What is the maximum plate identification distance at the telephoto end of the lens?

The confirmed DORI identify distance at telephoto is 40.7 metres. At wide end it is 16.0 metres. Recognise distance at telephoto reaches 81.4 metres, meaning the camera can read plate characters well before a vehicle arrives at a gate or sensor loop. The 8-32 mm motorised lens allows installers to frame the capture zone precisely for the specific mounting distance and lane width on site.
  4. Does the IZ3 variant include a built-in illuminator, and how far does it reach?

Yes. The "I" in the IZ3 model designation indicates a built-in LED illuminator, rated to 30 metres per the product specification. The camera achieves 0 Lux minimum illumination when the illuminator is active. This removes the need for a separate IR floodlight at most single-lane entry point installations where the camera is mounted within that range of the capture zone.
  5. Can this camera trigger a boom gate or entry barrier directly?

Yes. The camera includes built-in signal ports, data ports, and communication ports specifically designed to control external devices such as entry and exit barriers. This is a core design feature of the ITC series - the all-in-one housing means one cable run to the pole handles both the camera and the barrier trigger output in many standard single-lane installations. Compatibility with your specific barrier controller model should be confirmed before installation.
  6. Will this camera work for free-flow multi-lane traffic or road enforcement applications?

No - not as a standalone unit for those scenarios. The DHI-ITC413-PW4D-IZ3 is a fixed single-lane approach camera. Its 15.1 degree horizontal field of view at telephoto is suited to capturing one lane width at a controlled approach point. Multi-lane free-flow environments require dedicated multi-sensor traffic enforcement camera systems with lane separation logic, which is a different product category. The camera is also not certified for legal speed or red-light enforcement use in Australia. Contact Security Australia if you need guidance on the correct product type for a multi-lane or enforcement-grade requirement.
  7. What does the IVS perimeter detection do and does it require a separate configuration tool?

The IVS (Intelligent Video Surveillance) function supports intrusion detection and loitering detection as confirmed camera features. When a defined perimeter event occurs, the camera can trigger both light and voice alarms. Custom audio files can be imported and edited so a site-specific deterrent message plays on activation. IVS rules are configured through the camera's network interface - no additional software licence is required for this function, though integration into a broader VMS platform may offer more event management options.
