Yes, but the usable FOV depends on whether LDC is active. With LDC disabled the horizontal FOV reaches 180 degrees, but barrel distortion is visible at the frame edges. With LDC enabled (the default setting) the corrected horizontal FOV is 170 degrees. For most installations the 170-degree LDC view produces cleaner, more proportionate images that are easier to review on screen. If you need the absolute maximum width - for example, flush wall mounting in a very tight corner - disable LDC in the camera's image settings. -
Will this camera work with a standard PoE switch, or does it need PoE+?
A standard IEEE 802.3af PoE switch is sufficient. The DH-IPC-HDBW3466R-AS-P supports standard 802.3af PoE, which supplies up to 15.4W - adequate for this camera's power requirement. You do not need a PoE+ (802.3at) switch or injector. This is a fundamental characteristic of very wide FOV lenses - the trade-off for covering 170 degrees horizontally is reduced pixel density per subject. What does EPTZ actually do on this model - does the camera physically move?
No. The EPTZ function is entirely digital and uses no motorised mechanism. When an SMD 3.0 or perimeter protection alarm fires, the camera's processor crops and digitally enlarges the relevant portion of the 4MP sensor frame to create a zoomed view centred on the target, which it then tracks as the subject moves within the frame. The dome housing stays physically stationary. The benefit is that you can monitor a close-up of the triggering subject while the NVR also records the full undistorted wide-angle stream simultaneously. -
Does the 180-degree FOV produce a fisheye distortion that needs dewarping software to make sense of?
Not with LDC enabled. All IP cameras and recording devices (NVR’s/DVR’s) are covered by a 3 year back-to-base manufacturer warranty.
Our warranty is limited to the replacement of faulty items or parts and does not include damage due to incorrect fitting of parts or accessories, or damage due to mishandling the equipment once out of the box. All faults are sent to the manufacturer for inspection and diagnosis before a replacement is sent out.
