Product Overview

Who This Is For

For installers and security managers who need reliable image quality across high-contrast outdoor environments, the Hikvision 2MP Lightfighter Bullet Camera with 140dB WDR and 8-32mm motorised lens is built around that exact challenge. Whether that's a vehicle entry point flooded with morning sun, a loading dock lit from behind, or a perimeter fence where lighting shifts between direct glare and deep shadow throughout the day, the 140dB Wide Dynamic Range rating means the camera continues to produce usable 2MP footage where a standard camera would wash out or lose shadow detail entirely. The 8-32mm auto-focus lens allows installers to dial in coverage from a wide approach view down to a narrower identification zone without changing the camera, and EXIR illumination reaches 50 metres in darkness. Smart analytics - including intrusion detection, line crossing, and object left or removed - add structured event detection beyond basic motion.

What This Camera Actually Does

140dB Lightfighter WDR

At 140dB, this is among the highest WDR ratings in Hikvision's range. It handles scenes where bright light and deep shadow exist in the same frame - entry points, gates, and windows facing the sun - and continues producing clear 2MP footage where most cameras fail.

8-32mm Motorised Auto-Focus Lens

The 4x optical zoom range lets installers set the field of view precisely from the head end or on-site, without physically swapping lenses. Useful on long approaches, car parks, and perimeter runs where exact framing matters and revisiting the camera later is inconvenient.

EXIR Night Vision to 50m

Hikvision's EXIR technology distributes infrared illumination more evenly across the frame compared to standard IR arrays, reducing the hotspot in the centre of the image. The 50m range covers driveways, fence lines, and extended outdoor approaches in full darkness.

Structured Smart Analytics

On-board analytics include intrusion detection, line crossing, area entering and leaving, object left or removed, scene change detection, defocus detection, face detection, and object counting. These generate specific event types rather than blanket motion triggers, reducing alarm fatigue in monitored systems.

IP67 Outdoor Rating

IP67 means the housing is fully dust-tight and can withstand temporary water immersion, making it suitable for exposed outdoor positions including eaves, fence posts, and external walls subject to direct rain and blowing dust in Australian conditions.

Who Buys This Model

  • Commercial property managers: Covering vehicle entry and exit points where morning or afternoon sun creates severe backlight - the 140dB WDR rating maintains usable footage that standard cameras cannot.
  • Industrial site security teams: Monitoring long outdoor approaches, loading docks, and perimeter fence lines where the 50m EXIR range and motorised lens zoom allow precise coverage of extended distances.
  • Monitoring station operators: Installing cameras that feed into central monitoring where on-board analytics - intrusion, line crossing, object counting - generate structured event data rather than raw motion, cutting false alarm volume.
  • Installers specifying high-contrast environments: Car parks, school drop-off zones, and retail car yards where lighting conditions change dramatically between morning, midday, and night and a fixed-lens camera cannot adapt coverage on the fly.

Honest Assessment

The HIK-2CD4A25IZHS8 does two things particularly well: handling extreme backlight with its 140dB Lightfighter WDR rating, and giving installers lens flexibility through the 8-32mm motorised zoom that covers wide approaches and tighter identification zones from a single camera position. The on-board analytics suite is broad and genuinely useful for sites feeding into monitored systems, going well beyond simple motion detection. Where this camera is less suited is applications requiring active deterrence - there is no confirmed built-in speaker or strobe output, so it observes and alerts but does not respond. For sites where full-colour night footage is the priority over backlight handling, a full-colour or TiOC variant would serve better. Resolution is 2MP, which is appropriate for most outdoor coverage applications but falls short where number plate identification at distance or fine facial detail are primary requirements. Available through Security Australia as part of the Hikvision 4-line Lightfighter range.

Before You Buy

Lens Setup Note: The 8-32mm motorised lens requires remote zoom and focus adjustment either through the camera's web interface or a compatible NVR. Allow time during commissioning to set the field of view correctly - attempting to finalise this from the camera housing without remote access significantly increases installation time, particularly on elevated or hard-to-reach mounting positions.

Analytics Configuration: The smart analytics on this camera - intrusion zones, line crossing paths, and counting lines - are configured per-camera and require setup through the camera's interface or a compatible Hikvision NVR. Budget time for zone mapping during commissioning, particularly on sites with multiple cameras using analytics-triggered recording.

Quick Fit Check

  • Good match if: You are covering an entry point, gate, or vehicle lane where the camera regularly faces direct sunlight or strong backlight and image quality cannot be compromised by glare.
  • Good match if: The installation covers a long outdoor approach, driveway, or perimeter run where the 8-32mm zoom allows exact framing at commissioning without returning to swap lenses.
  • You may need a different model if: Active deterrence is a core requirement - a TiOC or strobe-equipped camera type would be more appropriate for sites where the camera needs to warn or deter in addition to recording.

Real-World Scenarios

East-Facing Entry Gate

A commercial site with an east-facing vehicle gate suffers severe morning sun backlight. The 140dB Lightfighter WDR allows the camera to simultaneously expose faces and number plates against the bright sky where standard WDR cameras produce silhouettes.

Industrial Perimeter Fence Line

Mounted on a pole at a warehouse boundary, the 8-32mm lens is zoomed to cover a 40-metre fence run. Intrusion detection is configured to trigger only when a person enters the defined zone, reducing overnight alarm events from wind-triggered motion.

Loading Dock After Hours

EXIR illumination covers the full 50-metre dock approach in darkness. Object left and object removed analytics flag unattended packages or missing equipment without requiring staff to review continuous overnight footage manually.

Open-Air Car Park

Mounted at the end of a car park row, the motorised lens is set wide during commissioning to cover multiple bays. Line crossing detection is configured across the pedestrian walkway to alert on after-hours movement without triggering on vehicle headlights.

Monitored Retail Exterior

Feeding into a central monitoring station, the analytics-generated events - intrusion zone breaches and scene change detection - are forwarded as structured alerts. Operators receive specific event types rather than raw motion clips, reducing review time per shift.

How It Compares

  • Choose this if: Backlight and high-contrast scenes are the primary challenge - the 140dB Lightfighter WDR rating is specifically engineered for these conditions and sits above the standard WDR found in most comparable outdoor bullet cameras.
  • You may need a different model if: Full-colour night footage is a higher priority than backlight handling - a full-colour or TiOC bullet camera type is better suited to sites with some ambient light at night where colour detail in darkness matters more than extreme WDR.
  • Pairs well with: A compatible Hikvision NVR with smart event support, allowing analytics triggers from this camera to generate recordings and alerts without relying on the camera's local storage alone.

Common Questions

  1. What does 140dB WDR actually mean in a real installation?

It means the camera can handle scenes where the brightest areas are significantly more intense than the darkest areas - within a single frame - and still produce a correctly exposed image throughout. In practice, this covers east or west-facing gates hit by direct sun, loading areas with artificial lighting behind subjects, or any position where a window or open sky appears in the background. Standard cameras rated at 90-120dB WDR will overexpose or underexpose in these conditions; at 140dB the Lightfighter rating is designed specifically for these extreme scenarios.
  2. Does the 8-32mm lens require on-site physical adjustment or can it be set remotely?

It can be adjusted remotely. The motorised auto-focus lens supports zoom and focus adjustment through the camera's web interface or a compatible Hikvision NVR, so the field of view can be set from the head end without returning to the camera housing. This is particularly useful on elevated or bracket-mounted positions where physical access after installation is difficult.
  3. Will this camera work in a completely unlit outdoor area at night?

Yes. The built-in EXIR infrared illumination operates independently of ambient light and provides up to 50 metres of night vision in complete darkness. EXIR technology distributes the IR output more evenly than standard IR arrays, reducing the centre-frame hotspot that is common with older IR bullet cameras. Colour information is not retained in darkness - night footage is monochrome, as is standard with IR-only cameras.
  4. Does this camera work for a site that feeds into a professional monitoring station?

Yes, and the on-board analytics are well suited to that use case. Intrusion detection, line crossing, area entering and leaving, and object left or removed all generate structured event types that monitoring platforms can receive and act on without operators reviewing continuous footage. This reduces the alert volume that monitoring stations handle overnight compared to cameras using raw motion detection only.
  5. Is IP67 sufficient for exposed outdoor positions in Australian conditions?

Yes for most outdoor installations. IP67 means the housing is fully dust-tight and rated for temporary water immersion - it handles direct rain, coastal environments, and dusty conditions. If the camera is positioned where it may be subject to sustained high-pressure water jets, such as wash-down areas in a food or industrial facility, an IP69K-rated camera would be more appropriate.
  6. Does this camera have two-way audio?

No. There is no confirmed built-in speaker or microphone on this model. The analytics suite includes audio surge detection and audio loss detection inputs, which suggest an external audio device may be connectable, but the camera does not have self-contained two-way audio. If on-site voice communication or verbal deterrence is required, a camera model with confirmed built-in speaker and microphone would be needed. Security Australia stocks Hikvision models with two-way audio if that is a requirement.
  7. Does the face detection analytic on this camera identify specific people?

No. Face detection on this camera identifies that a human face is present in the frame and can trigger an event based on that detection. It does not perform facial recognition or match faces against a database. For access control or identity verification applications, a dedicated facial recognition device would be required.
