Quick Buying Summary

Built as a combined panoramic and PTZ camera for large outdoor surveillance, the DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26(F0) pairs a 6MP 180° panoramic sensor with a 4MP PTZ unit featuring 25× optical zoom - giving operators a full scene overview and the ability to zoom in on detail simultaneously. DarkFighter and ColorVu technologies deliver colour imaging down to 0.005 lux, while IR illumination extends to 100m for complete darkness coverage. Supports both 12V DC and PoE+ power supply.

Why This Model

  • Panoramic + PTZ in one unit: A single camera covers the full scene at 180° while the PTZ channel lets operators zoom to 25× optical magnification without installing separate cameras - reducing hardware costs and cabling in large open areas.
  • Colour imaging in near-darkness: DarkFighter and ColorVu combined achieve colour video down to 0.005 lux, meaning parking lots, yards, and public spaces stay in full colour at night rather than switching to black and white.

Product Overview

Model: DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26

Who This Is For

For security integrators and site managers who need simultaneous wide-area context and close-up detail from a single camera position, the Hikvision DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26 TandemVu delivers both in one unit. The panoramic channel captures a 180-degree view at 6 MP, giving operators a persistent wide scene across large outdoor areas - parking stations, public plazas, industrial yards - while the independent 4 MP PTZ channel with 25x optical zoom can track, zoom in on, or investigate specific activity without interrupting the panoramic feed. This makes it a strong specification choice wherever installing two separate cameras on one pole or mounting point is impractical or cost-prohibitive. It suits projects where the brief calls for overview-plus-detail coverage at perimeter gates, transport hubs, or open-air facilities, and where the operator needs the panoramic record retained even when the PTZ is actively tracking.

What This Camera Actually Does

Dual-Channel TandemVu

The panoramic and PTZ channels operate independently and simultaneously. The 6 MP panoramic sensor maintains a continuous 180-degree scene record while the PTZ channel tracks or zooms without any gap appearing in the wide-area footage - effectively two cameras sharing one housing and one mounting point.

25x Optical Zoom

The PTZ channel zooms from 4.8 mm to 120 mm optically, meaning distant subjects are magnified without digital quality loss. At the long end, licence plates, faces, and equipment details across a large yard are resolvable in the recorded image.

100 m IR Night Vision

Built-in IR illumination reaches up to 100 metres, keeping the PTZ channel operational in complete darkness without external lighting. Minimum illumination of 0.005 lux in colour and 0.001 lux in black-and-white supports low-light colour imaging before the IR cuts in.

Smart Tracking

When a target is detected in the panoramic field, the PTZ channel can automatically slew, lock on, and follow the subject across the scene. This removes the need for a live operator to manually control the PTZ during an event, which is particularly useful on unstaffed sites or during overnight monitoring.

Human and Vehicle Classification

Deep learning-based detection separates human movement from vehicle movement and filters out irrelevant triggers such as swaying vegetation or lighting changes. Alert accuracy improves significantly versus standard motion detection, reducing operator fatigue from nuisance alarms on large open sites.

IP66 Weather Rating

The IP66 enclosure is fully sealed against dust ingress and resists direct water jets, making it appropriate for year-round outdoor installation in exposed locations including coastal and industrial environments with wash-down activity nearby.

Who Buys This Model

  • Security Integrators on Pole-Limited Projects: Sites where mounting positions are restricted - single-pole installations at perimeter gates or median strips - benefit from the dual-channel design, covering both overview and zoom-detail without a second camera or separate PTZ mount.
  • Car Park and Transport Hub Operators: The 180-degree panoramic channel at 6 MP covers wide driving lanes continuously, while the PTZ channel with 25x zoom can capture close-up detail of a specific vehicle or incident on demand.
  • Industrial Site and Logistics Facility Managers: Loading docks, open yards, and perimeter fencing with long unlit approaches benefit from the 100 m IR range and smart tracking, which follows subjects automatically without requiring a staffed control room response.
  • Council and Public Space Surveillance Teams: Public plazas and open recreation areas where a single camera position needs to deliver both a continuous scene record and operator-controlled detail capture suit the independent dual-channel architecture of this model.
  • Critical Infrastructure and Utilities: Substations and water treatment perimeters where human and vehicle classification reduces nuisance alerts from wildlife or environmental movement, and where PoE+ simplifies cabling to a single Cat6 run per camera position.

Honest Assessment

The DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26 does something genuinely useful for large-site projects: it eliminates the trade-off between wide-area overview and close-up detail by running both channels at the same time. The 6 MP panoramic feed does not pause or drop while the PTZ tracks a target, which matters in post-event review. The 25x optical zoom and 100 m IR range give the PTZ channel real working distance on open sites. Smart tracking and human/vehicle classification reduce the operator burden on unstaffed or remotely monitored installations considerably. Where this camera will not be the right answer is in confined or indoor spaces - the 180-degree panoramic is designed for open outdoor coverage, and a standard dome or turret camera delivers better value in corridors, foyers, or small retail environments. The PoE+ requirement also means standard PoE switches may be insufficient; the power budget needs to be confirmed before specifying. Available through Security Australia, this model suits projects where coverage planning is the primary challenge.

Before You Buy

PoE+ Power Budget: This camera requires PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at), which delivers up to 30W per port. Standard PoE (802.3at, 24 W) is insufficient to power the dual-channel system. Confirm your switch or injector supports 802.3at before running cable. If using a Hikvision NVR with PoE ports, verify each port's individual wattage output - some NVRs share total PoE budget across all ports, and connecting this camera may affect power availability for other devices on the same switch.

NVR Channel Count: The TandemVu architecture streams the panoramic and PTZ channels as separate video streams. On a Hikvision NVR, this typically consumes 2 channels rather than 1. Plan your channel count accordingly when specifying the recorder - a site with 8 TandemVu cameras will require at least a 16-channel NVR to accommodate both streams per unit.

Quick Fit Check

  • Good match if: You have a single mounting point covering a large open area - car park, yard, or plaza - where you need a continuous 180-degree record and the ability to zoom in on specific activity simultaneously without interrupting the wide-area feed.
  • Good match if: The site is unstaffed or remotely monitored and you need smart tracking to follow moving subjects automatically, with human and vehicle classification filtering out nuisance alerts from environmental triggers.
  • You may need a different model if: Your requirement is full 360-degree coverage with no blind spots - a fisheye or multi-sensor panoramic camera will serve that use case better, and both options are available at Security Australia.

Real-World Scenarios

Multi-Level Car Park Entrance

A single pole at the entry captures the full lane layout across 180 degrees on the panoramic channel. When a vehicle parks in a restricted bay, the operator uses the PTZ channel with 25x zoom to read the registration plate without disrupting the continuous scene record.

Unstaffed Industrial Perimeter

Smart tracking automatically follows a person detected in the panoramic field at night. The PTZ channel locks on and the 100 m IR illuminator keeps the subject visible across the full yard width, sending a classified human-detection alert to the monitoring centre without operator input.

Public Plaza with Event Activity

During a public event, the 180-degree panoramic channel records crowd movement continuously across the full square. Security staff remotely steer the PTZ to investigate a specific gathering or disturbance, then return it to a preset position - all without any interruption to the wide-area recording.

Logistics Yard - Overnight

After hours, the camera's deep learning classification filters out trucks moving on scheduled routes while triggering alerts only on unclassified human activity. The 0.005 lux colour capability captures detail before the IR illuminator activates, maintaining colour identification in low ambient light near dock lighting.

Critical Infrastructure Perimeter

At a substation fence line, WDR handles the high-contrast lighting between floodlit assets and dark surrounds. Privacy masking blocks internal infrastructure detail from recording while the camera remains fully operational on the access path and outer perimeter, supporting compliance requirements.

How It Compares

  • Choose this if: You need a single mounted unit that simultaneously records a 180-degree 6 MP overview and delivers independent PTZ zoom and tracking - particularly where mounting positions are limited or running two separate cameras is impractical.
  • You may need a different model if: Your site requires full 360-degree continuous coverage with no angular gap - a multi-sensor panoramic or fisheye camera with dewarping will cover the full circle from a single point and is a better specification for that use case.
  • Pairs well with: A Hikvision deep learning NVR that processes the TandemVu dual-stream natively and supports smart tracking event logging, alarm linkage, and human/vehicle classification search across recorded footage.

Common Questions

  1. Does the panoramic camera keep recording when the PTZ is tracking a target?

Yes. The two channels on the DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26 operate entirely independently. The 6 MP panoramic sensor continues its 180-degree scene capture without interruption regardless of what the PTZ channel is doing. This is the core design principle of the TandemVu architecture - you retain the continuous overview record at all times, which is important for post-event review and evidential footage.
  2. Will this camera work on a standard PoE switch?

No. This camera requires PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at), which supplies up to 30W per port. Standard PoE (IEEE 802.3at) delivers a maximum of 24 W and is insufficient to power the dual-channel system. Before installation, confirm that your switch or NVR's PoE ports are rated at 802.3at. If your NVR has a shared PoE budget, check that connecting this unit does not starve other cameras on the same switch of required power.
  3. How many NVR channels does the DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26 use?

Two channels per camera. The panoramic stream and the PTZ stream are recorded as separate video channels on the NVR. A site with 6 of these cameras will therefore consume 12 NVR channels. This is a common planning oversight - always confirm your NVR's channel capacity against the total stream count, not the camera count, when specifying TandemVu deployments.
  4. What is the optical zoom range and how far can the PTZ channel resolve detail?

The PTZ channel uses a 25x optical zoom lens ranging from 4.8 mm to 120 mm. At the long end, the camera can capture detail across distances well beyond what standard fixed lenses achieve - sufficient for plate-level or face-level detail at substantial range across open sites. The exact usable identification distance depends on the DORI specification of the specific sensor, which should be confirmed from Hikvision's published datasheet for this model when distance planning is critical.
  5. How does the smart tracking work and does it require an operator?

No operator is required once tracking is configured. The panoramic channel detects a classified target - person or vehicle - and automatically triggers the PTZ channel to slew to, lock on to, and follow that subject across the scene. The operator can override control at any time, and the PTZ will return to a defined home position after the subject leaves the frame or tracking is released. This makes the camera practical for remotely monitored or unstaffed sites where a live PTZ operator is not available.
  6. Will this camera work for a site with mixed lighting - bright floodlit areas and dark surrounds?

Yes. The camera includes Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) processing, which compresses the exposure range to retain detail in both bright and shadowed areas within the same frame. This is relevant for applications such as car park entries, substation perimeters, or loading docks where a floodlit zone meets a darker background. The 0.005 lux minimum illumination in colour also means the camera produces colour images in very low ambient light before the IR illuminator activates.
  7. Does this camera support two-way audio?

The DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26 supports audio input and output. Whether this constitutes functional two-way audio in your application depends on whether you connect an external microphone to the audio input and an external speaker to the audio output, as the confirmed specification describes port support rather than built-in speaker and microphone hardware. Confirm the audio hardware configuration with the supplier before specifying for intercom or challenge applications. The Security Australia team can confirm current hardware details for this model prior to purchase.
  8. Does the panoramic channel cover a full 360 degrees?

No. The panoramic channel on this model covers 180 degrees horizontally (+/-10 degrees) and 80 degrees vertically (+/-5 degrees). It is designed for wide hemispherical coverage of one direction - ideal for a perimeter wall, fence line, or approach - rather than full surround monitoring. If 360-degree continuous coverage is required from a single point, a fisheye or multi-sensor panoramic camera is the appropriate product type.
