Hikvision Acusense DS-2CD2366G2-ISU/SL IP LIVEGUARD 6MP With Warning & Strobe Turret Network Camera
Built as an active deterrence turret camera for residential and commercial installations, the DS-2CD2366G2-ISU/SL combines 6MP AcuSense imaging with an integrated strobe light and audible siren to warn off intruders the moment a human or vehicle is detected. DarkFighter low-light technology keeps footage usable around the clock, while IP67 weatherproofing suits exposed outdoor locations. Powered via PoE (802.3af) or DC 12V.
Why This Model
- Active deterrence on detection: The built-in strobe light and audible warning trigger the instant AcuSense classifies a human or vehicle, deterring intrusion before an incident escalates rather than simply recording it.
- Dramatically fewer false alerts: Deep learning-based human and vehicle classification means you get notified for real threats, not passing animals, moving foliage, or lighting changes.
- Edge storage backup: MicroSD support up to 256GB lets the camera continue recording locally if the network goes down, protecting footage continuity without extra hardware.

Product Overview
Model: DS-2CD2366G2-ISU/SL
Who This Is For
For property managers and installers who need active deterrence built into the camera itself rather than relying on a separate alarm or lighting system, the Hikvision DS-2CD2366G2-ISU/SL LIVEGUARD is the turret to specify. It combines 6MP AcuSense imaging with an integrated strobe light and audible warning, triggering only when a human or vehicle is detected - not a cat, blowing debris, or headlight sweep. That distinction matters when the goal is fewer false call-outs and more targeted responses. At 30 metres of IR range with DarkFighter low-light performance and IP67 plus IK10 ratings, it handles exposed eave, soffit, and wall positions at residential gates, retail carparks, small warehouses, and school perimeters without needing a separate PIR or siren. PoE 802.3af and microSD support up to 256GB round out a package that works as a standalone deterrent or as part of a managed NVR system.
What This Camera Actually Does
Active Strobe & Audio Deterrence
When the AcuSense engine classifies a human or vehicle target, the built-in strobe light flashes and the onboard speaker fires an audible warning. This happens at the camera level, with no separate siren, relay, or alarm panel required - making it practical for retrofit installs and remote sites.
AcuSense Human & Vehicle Classification
Deep learning algorithms running onboard the camera distinguish humans and vehicles from other motion sources. Alerts and recordings are triggered on classified targets only, which directly reduces nuisance notifications on busy outdoor perimeters where wind, foliage, and animals would otherwise cause constant false alarms.
6MP Resolution at 20fps
At 3072 x 2048 pixels, the sensor captures enough detail to identify faces and vehicle plates in the scene without needing to zoom in during playback. H.265+ compression keeps file sizes manageable, extending the useful life of local microSD storage and NVR drive capacity.
DarkFighter Low-Light Imaging
DarkFighter technology allows the sensor to produce usable colour images at very low ambient light levels before switching to IR monochrome. The IR illuminators extend to 30 metres. Combined with 120dB true WDR, the camera handles high-contrast scenes - bright headlights against dark driveways - without blowing out or crushing detail.
IP67 & IK10 Rated Housing
Full dust ingress protection and resistance to water jets (IP67) covers exposed outdoor positions. The IK10 impact rating means the housing withstands deliberate physical interference - relevant for gate posts, carpark columns, and anywhere a determined person could reach the camera.
Local MicroSD Edge Storage
The camera accepts microSD/SDXC cards up to 256GB, enabling standalone recording without an NVR. This is useful for remote locations with limited bandwidth, as a backup when the NVR is offline, or as the primary recording method for single-camera installs where a full NVR is not warranted.
Who Buys This Model
- Residential Installers: Specifying active deterrence cameras for home gate, driveway, and side-access positions where the client wants the camera to do something visible when triggered, not just record.
- Small Business Owners: Retail carparks, storage yards, and small warehouses where after-hours intrusion is a recurring problem and a standalone siren or guard response is not practical.
- School & Childcare Facility Managers: Perimeter monitoring where IK10 vandal resistance and AcuSense-filtered alerts reduce both physical damage risk and nuisance notifications to staff.
- Remote Site Operators: Properties without reliable NVR connectivity that need local microSD recording and onboard deterrence without a full alarm system backend.
Honest Assessment
The DS-2CD2366G2-ISU/SL does two things particularly well: it classifies targets accurately enough to make the strobe and audio deterrence useful rather than annoying, and it packages that deterrence in an IK10/IP67 turret body that suits exposed outdoor positions without additional hardware. The 6MP sensor with DarkFighter and 120dB WDR gives solid imaging quality across the scenarios it is most commonly deployed in - driveways, carparks, and perimeter fencing. Available through Security Australia, it suits installs where the client wants a visible response at the camera rather than a silent record-only solution. Where it will not serve as well: the 30 metre IR range is modest for long open approaches where a bullet camera with 60-80 metre illumination would be more appropriate. The fixed lens options (2.8mm, 4mm, 6mm) also mean this is not the right choice where optical zoom or remote focus adjustment is needed. For wide-area coverage with fewer camera positions, a PTZ or panoramic model would be the better fit.
Before You Buy
Lens Selection: The deterrence strobe and audio are most effective when the camera angle covers the intended approach tightly. Choose the 2.8mm lens for wide coverage of a driveway entrance or carpark bay from a close mount point, 4mm for a mid-range corridor or pedestrian path, and 6mm where the camera is mounted at height and needs to reach further down the scene. Selecting the wrong focal length is the most common installation issue with this model - confirm the mount position and required coverage width before ordering the lens variant.
Strobe Trigger Configuration: The strobe and audio warning only activate when the AcuSense detection rules are correctly configured in the camera or NVR interface. Out of the box, standard motion detection remains the default on some firmware versions. Confirm the detection mode is set to human/vehicle classification and the linkage action is set to light and audio warning before handing over to the client - otherwise the deterrence function will not trigger as expected.
Quick Fit Check
- Good match if: You need a camera that actively responds to detected humans or vehicles with a strobe and audible warning at the camera itself, without a separate alarm panel or external siren.
- Good match if: The install position is exposed - a gate post, carpark column, or eave on a commercial building - where IK10 vandal resistance and IP67 weatherproofing are needed alongside the deterrence function.
- You may need a different model if: The approach to monitor is longer than 30 metres, or the site requires optical zoom to cover multiple zones from a single camera position - in those cases, a bullet camera with extended IR or a PTZ model from the Security Australia range would serve the application better.
Key Features & Technical Specifications
Real-World Scenarios
How It Compares
- Choose this if: Active on-camera deterrence - strobe and audio triggered by AcuSense human/vehicle classification - is a core requirement of the installation, not an add-on.
- You may need a different model if: The monitored approach exceeds 30 metres or requires optical zoom from a single camera position - a bullet camera with long-range IR or a PTZ model would cover those scenarios more effectively.
- Pairs well with: A Hikvision AcuSense-compatible NVR for centralised event management, smart search by target type, and coordinated alerts across multiple cameras on the same site.
Common Questions
-
Does the strobe and audio warning trigger on any motion, or only on people and vehicles?
Only on classified humans and vehicles. The AcuSense deep learning engine running onboard filters out other motion sources - animals, swaying trees, passing headlights - before deciding whether to activate the strobe and audible warning. This is why the LIVEGUARD deterrence function is more useful in practice than a standard motion-triggered output, which would fire constantly in most outdoor environments. -
Will this camera work on a standard PoE switch or does it need PoE+?
Yes, a standard IEEE 802.3af PoE switch is sufficient. The DS-2CD2366G2-ISU/SL draws within the 802.3af 15.4W budget, so it does not require PoE+ (802.3at) ports. A single Cat5e or Cat6 cable carries both data and power, which simplifies runs to gate posts, eaves, and carpark mounting positions where running a separate power cable is inconvenient. -
Does this camera record locally without an NVR?
Yes. The camera accepts a microSD or microSDXC card up to 256GB and can record continuously or on AcuSense-triggered events without any NVR connection. This makes it a practical option for single-camera installs, remote sites with limited network infrastructure, or as a backup recording layer where an NVR already exists on the network. -
What does the IK10 rating mean for an outdoor install?
IK10 is the highest impact resistance rating in the IK scale, indicating the housing can withstand a 20-joule impact - roughly equivalent to a direct strike with a hammer. For a turret camera installed at accessible heights on a gate post, fence column, or building corner at ground level, this rating is meaningful. It does not make the camera indestructible, but it significantly increases the likelihood of the unit continuing to operate and record after deliberate physical interference. -
Which lens variant should I order for a standard residential driveway?
The 2.8mm lens is the most common choice for a driveway entry viewed from an eave or wall at 2.5-3.5 metres mounting height, as it provides a wide enough angle to cover the full width of a standard double driveway. The 4mm lens suits narrower approaches, longer corridors, or positions where the camera is mounted higher. The 6mm lens is best reserved for camera positions at significant height or where the scene of interest is further from the mount point - confirm the field of view against your specific mounting geometry before ordering. The team at Security Australia can assist with lens selection if you supply the mounting height and required scene width. -
Does the camera work in heavy rain or direct sunlight?
Yes for rain. The IP67 rating means the housing is sealed against water jets from any direction, so Australian weather conditions including heavy rain and garden irrigation are not a concern. For direct sunlight, mounting the camera so it is not pointing directly into the afternoon sun is advisable - backlit scenes with extreme contrast are handled by the 120dB WDR, but prolonged direct sun into the lens will still degrade image quality at the sun-facing edge of the frame. -
Does this camera have two-way audio?
No, not as a two-way communication tool. The camera has a built-in microphone for audio monitoring and recording, and a built-in speaker used for the audible deterrence warning. The speaker output is controlled by the camera's detection linkage, not by a remote operator speaking through an app. If two-way intercom functionality between a monitoring station and the camera location is a requirement, a different product type would be more suitable.
